Saints Training Camp Updates: Day 7, July 31st (1 Viewer)

We can make the money work if we want it to happen. The problem is it seems like the team is indeed actively trying to rein it in a bit on that front, likely preparing itself for its next phase.

But indeed, if we want Aiyuk in 2024, our people can make it happen.
Aiyuk requested his trade because he wants to get paid. He wants a NEW contract.

How can we swing that?

Restructures and creative year 1 accounting on the deal, and it’s not like we have no space even right now. Think we are like $9m under last I saw.

Hard to disagree, especially the tackle spot. Our failure to truly address it really had me thinking we were smokescreening with Ram’s situation, but it appears that was nowhere near the case.

I think we can get away with what we have at WR. I thought we could use one more “JAG” veteran like a Hunter Renfrow or Russell Gage, but I guess the staff likes where we are at.

We can get away with the talent level we have at WR, but I have a hard time believing we won’t have a hard time masking the OL issue.
Facts we can likely get by at WR with a good o line and running game.

Refreshing thing is no one on the offensive line showed up in the tweets. So they must’ve done ok today
Yeah, reactions to Penning’s 1 on 1 reps were probably overstated. It’s good he appeared to have a less noticeable day today.

One step back is ok as long as he’s taking two forward

He and Fuaga did well today according to this write-up. The pass-rush is giving them fits but they appear to be rebounding.

Best thing for Penning is to have a short memory

Nick’s camp summary from today said Carr was “sacked” on 6 of his 14 drop backs today. That is very abnormal, needless to say, and has me feeling more like we have a significant OL issue brewing as opposed to us suddenly finding an awesome unstoppable pass rush.

Hopefully this is just growing pains with the new system, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
