Seahawks hired Saints OC Klint Kubiak as their new Offensive Coordinator (4 Viewers)

What does this mean?
Nothing , it was a joke implying you were Mickey Loomis. Anyway I did some digging around and it is possible for a team to acquire a draft pick from another team if they trade away in a lateral move a coordinator such as Kubiak (OC) to the Seahawks although it's not very common and would depend heavily on the specific circumstances and the perceived value of the coach in the league at the time. So Kubes not having a winning season (Totally not his fault) lost any trade value.

The key points to consider in such a trade would be
  • Market value of the coach:
If a team believes their OC or DC is highly sought after by other teams and could significantly improve another team's offense or defense, they might be able to leverage that value into a draft pick in a trade.
  • Negotiation leverage:
The team acquiring the coach may be willing to give up a draft pick if they are desperate for an upgrade at that position and see the traded coach as a key piece to their success.
  • "Lateral move" consideration:
If the trade is truly considered a "lateral move" where both teams are essentially swapping coaches of similar quality and reputation, it's less likely that a draft pick would be involved.

Why would Seattle do that? They could just wait for the Saints to hire a HC and (almost certainly) release Kubiak anyway,
To me that would only make sense if they knew the Saints were looking at an offensive minded head coach and they probably are since they gave Kubiak permission to interview with other teams. Its not a certainty though.

Or Kingsbury or Kafka, although I do agree that Mike and Moore would be the more likely choices.
I’ve read that Kafka’s offenses have been terrible. Haven’t researched much to see if the claim is true, if so tho I hope he isn’t the guy. Although I guess he can co command the tank just fine as anyone can.

I think an underrated advantage of Moore is that he might bring some staff from Philly and he might be able to bring over some guys that are backup gems in Philly with a promise of a bigger role here. Cheap free agents like that are probably all we will be looking at and I would bet there are some gems buried on that talented roster.

He's also recently been in Dallas and with the Chargers so that's a couple more teams he has experience with the players.

Good for him. Wish him well, totally apathetic about him.

Yes. I think he's a solid OC but nothing special. I think he has a good scheme the he implemented well, but his play calling past the scripted plays and lack of adjustment are a pretty big problem.

1 year as OC in Minnesota. 1 year as OC in New Orleans. Now OC in Seattle.

Im good with him walking. 2 1 and dones, moved to the same position on a 3rd team and didnt leave any OC position to get promoted to HC.

He is our offensive Steve Spagnuolo. But without the actual success prior.

It seems just like yesterday he was coming in to wash the Carmichael out of our memories. But like Carmichael he was only good for a few scripted plays to begin the game. Nice enough guy though, so I wish him well.
Man, yall are brutal!!! This guy lost three of his best offensive weapons in THill, Olave, and Shaheed. He was already hamstrung (although he didn’t know it) by a boneheaded HC who was in over his head. Also, his QBs and only viable running back were playing behind a line worse than a bunch of grandmas in rocking chairs.

The Seahawks aren’t a stable staff either.

Good 2022. Got Danny Dimes the big contract extension. 2023 was a down year. They played 3 or 4 QBs that year. Then this year Daboll took play calling back and it was still bad.

Injuries are part of the NFL. I never saw any adjustment to the situation. No creativity to get the offense going outside of a few late season plays that went poorly.

On a healthy team but to run, this is right up his alley.

Perfect QB for the offense and two good young running backs, Kubiak should hit the ground running n Seattle.
Well he hit the ground running with the Saints...
