Sean Salisbury Says Panthers to Win NFC South (1 Viewer)

I dont understand how some people can get outraged when people pick the Panthers to win the division.. the Panthers have just as good a chance as we do to pull that off..

We can't say we're better than Carolina until we BEAT Carolina.. If the Saints lose to Pittsburgh and then Carolina beats us, well then it looks like we're about tied.

For the Panthers to win the Division after starting at 4-4 at the midway point, we would have to totally lay an egg.

Saints: 6-2
Falcons:5-3
Panthers: 4-4

If we went just 4-4 the rest of the way, we would be 10-6. They would have to go 6-2 to make it to 10-6. No way this happens. At this point, I would say that our only competition the rest of the way is the Dirty Turds.

The way things are today in the NFL, you can never tell. I mean last week, the Saints were going down and the Falcons were on a high, when two weeks before that is was the reverse. Now in one week, the Saints win convincingly and the Falcons lose to the Lions. Who knows. It is possible, the Panthers can put together a win streak. They've done it before. So don't bash Salisbury yet. Anything can, and usually does happen. That's what makes watching the games so interesting.

If last year when the Steelers were 7-5 and the Colts were 12-0 someone had predicted that Pittsburgh could beat Indianapolis in the playoffs they would have been met with ridicule.

I'm sure Tony Dungy's son committing suicide had nothing to do with the outcome of that Steelers/Colts game.

I wouldn't count out my Panthers just yet folks. We're only 2 games out of first place with 8 left to be played. Granted, the Saints look very good and the Panthers will have to go on one heck of a run to make it happen but, it's far from over and far from impossible.

We could very easily lose our next 2 games with them winning their next two. Suddenly we are tied. I sure hope it doesnt happen and don't think it will, I just think its a little early to get cocky.

The next 4 games will tell if the Panthers are going to make a strong push
for the division. We have several tough games coming up & their next four
are the easiest on their schedule. If we hold serve over the next four weeks
its over for the Panthers.

On a related note, Merril (spl) Hodge picked the Super Bowl to be New Orleans vs San Diego.

Found that interesting.....

Just more ESPN hate for our Saints. Just like Chris Mortenson. He has picked the Saints to go 2-14, according to his preseason predictions, and so far he's only picked them to win once, against the Packers. I predict he will pick them to win only one more time, against the 9ers, thus becoming the most stubborn Saints hater at ESPN by refusing to go beyond his original "prognostication."

And the exact opposite is more likely to happen. The Saints play a 2-6 Steelers who are turnover-happy who lost to the Raiders and a 4-4 Cincinnati Bengals that is inconsistent and whose best WR has only 2 TDs who lost to the Bucs.

The Panthers, OTOH, face those same Bucs who, while 2-6, have had a good chance to win 2 of their losses, and a playoff-calibur St. Louis with a QB (Bulger) with only 1 INT and Torry Holt who has identical stats to Colston.

If one of these two teams went 0-2, it's more likely to be the 4-4 inconsistent Panthers than the 6-2 Saints.

reggie bush and rest of those guys will win the divison

You're making the mistake of looking at records. Teams are so close to each other in the NFL in terms of talent that you can't see how much better a team is from another team by looking at records. Pittsburgh still has weapons on offense and the only reason they've been losing is because of mistakes by Roethlisberger but those mistakes are being caused by pressure on him and DBs making plays on the ball, two things our defense aren't too good at. On top of that Pittsburgh's defense isn't too bad. Not saying it will happen but this game could easily end up like the Ravens game. Same with the Benagals, with our defensive secondary it wouldn't take much for players like Palmer and Chad Johnson to catch fire.

The way I see it the Panthers and Saints have the same chances of winning or losses any of those games.

I'll tell you I like John Fox as a coach. He has done a terrific job with the Panthers organization but this media love affair with them is sickening.

I listen to Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwin talk to "Foxy" as they call him every Tuesday morning. I like those guys alot but to listen to them make excuses after every Panthers loss is disgusting. This morning, "Foxy, you are the kind of team that has a lot of pride and can go on one of those winning streaks." or something close to that.

What I'm looking at is consistency. The Saints, even though they lost to the Panthers, were consistent. The Panthers haven't been consistent at all this year. They will play well one week and collapse the next. Fumble after fumble against Dallas. Interceptions in the red zone. Giving up an 86-yard TD at the end of the 4th quarter. These are not the staples of a John Fox football team. As for the Steelers, Big Ben thros INTs, but they are also fumbling alot. 12 total fumbles and 7 lost by not only the RB but the WR as well. They're close in talent but the 2000-2005 Saints were close to many teams in talent but the execution never showed up. That's been the Steelers' problems.

It got worse last night.

On the NFL Whatever that they do during ESPN News, the host quizzed Salisbury and Hodge about what 4-4 NFC teams, team by team, would be in our out of the playoffs. So here was Salisbury

Panthers: In, win NFC South, "They can be physical."

Cowboys: In -- no explanation other than "I think they'll get it together"

Eagles: Out -- "...can't run or stop run..."

Vikings: Out -- "no playmakers on offense"

Rams: In -- "I just think they'll find a way." (Gee, that's helpful. I would have gotten more from Memphis Ram and Tampa Ram Fan even if I had just slit their throats.)

Of course, a little quick math shows the Kitties winning the NFC South and neither the Saints nor the Falcons making the playoffs.

Why is this guy on television again?
