Rattler is way better than Haener it’s not even close. Just watch his 24 highlight reel. You’ll see he’s able to get rid of the ball while the pocket is being broken down. He finds ways to get the ball out and completes passes under duress. Haener would take take 5x more sacks than Rattler, Rattler also has a laser when needed. He’s actually better than Carr in tight situations. Carr drops back and throws it away, where Rattler throws a little dink, for a completion. Like I said go rewatch his reel and project if Haener would escape and make the same throws.
And no young QB is going to get better at the things Carr is currently better than Rattler at until they play. Arch Manning can walk through the door tomorrow and he won't be as good as Carr on day 1.

We have to let some players develop at all positions, not just QB. Foskey should have started at DE the last couple of games. Boyd should have been in the DT rotation and Holker should have played more. None of those guys are going to learn to play in the NFL on the bench.

That confirms where he is during the off season, at home in AZ. Cool that he came back to NO for the Super Bowl even though he didn't have to. It showed love for the city and leadership of the team.
All the players that were here for the SB were sponsored and paid by different companies. It had nothing to do with love for the team or the city

It does not matter which one is better. Pretty sure Carr is “better” in 2025 but there’s the bigger picture. If we release Carr, take the cap hit and go with Rattler, we can ride his rookie contract a few years while we grow by draft and by building cap space. If we stick with Carr, he gives us a better chance to win in 25, but to win what? The ceiling is win 9 games and take a road trip in the playoffs? Tough call for a new head coach.

U not winning 9 games at all and you for sure not winning a playoff game whatsoever… how quickly we forget he’s been to one playoff game his entire career and lost that.

It seems you answered your own question. There's a ton of talent and upside with Rattler. He undoubtedly needs to keep developing. Putting him in a "good system" with a QB guru like Kellen Moore gives him the best chance of reaching that upside. I think most Saints fans realize that the 2025 season is going to very much be a rebuild year. Allowing a QB like Rattler to play with actual 1st team players (unlike the practice squad quality talent he played with most of last year) and learn for a year as a starter gives him a chance to truly develop. If we look at the number 1 overall pick the past 2 years (Bryce Young and Caleb Williams), neither of them were particularly good in their 1st season and showed quite a few struggles. However, Bryce Young "started" to look like he could be the guy about halfway through his 2nd season. It can take time with young QB's. Rattler may or may not be "the guy" none of us know, but if there was ever a season for the Saints to give a young QB a chance to develop, the 2025 season looks to be a good one to do so.
Picking and choosing which parts to read, and which parts to ignore...

What I said was that he and Haener are about even.

Why are you so dead set against Haener?

Correct, I did ignore parts of your post as the first part I put in bold was the most logical part of your comment. Rattler has a ton of talent and upside. To the point it is likely worth it for Moore to give it a real look this season to see if he develop him into our QB of the future.

Haener doesn’t have that level of arm talent. Rattler also improvises much better. Haener looked like a deer in headlights vs the Commanders when he actually had pressure on him and wasn’t playing in garbage time.

Got to disagree, no way are they even in my opinion. Poise, pocket awareness, decision making, arm talent, accuracy all fall in favor of Rattler but the most important thing he showed was that he was able to settle down the O and run it, whereas Haener had the O quite frenetic out there.

Just my take. But I’m a Rat man after all

I saw the same thing and I wanted Haener to be great. He's from a couple of towns over from where I am and his Mom was our local new anchor for a really long time. I kind of loved the idea of the local kid getting the QB job for my favorite team. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have what it takes for that. So Rattler's my guy until there is someone that's better with more long term upside.
