Silo on Apple TV

Any show based on a book you have to tread lightly on reddit- too many book readers like to pretend they’re ’guessing ‘ where the show is going
For whatever joy that gives them
I tend to wait a bit after a show and let the mods clean up the ‘show only’ discussions
Yeah, I am still a bit of a novice to Reddit...but I stay outta the book threads and usually wait a few days to take in the specific episode threads. Just seems crazy-- the sheer amount of folks complaining (maybe it's not tho) about it being too slow and not Juliette focused enough. I have a few small issues with that, but nothing that is preventing me from thinking this is some of the finest TV going right now.

I’ve written there and other places that ‘fan culture’ almost has a built in season 2 crap fest
If there is a surprise new show, there will be a vocal minority who will post loudly and negatively

I can bet it’s going to happen for Severance and Last of Us and Fallout

Don’t know why they do it, they just do

Also Camille playing Sims like a bow fiddle
she and Knox seem crucial to the survival/future of 18

and Lukas obviously

so Bernard has been an obstruction but seemingly for the protection of the Silo - but mostly bc he knew more than anyone else (Meadows aside)
now Lukas and Jules (and whomever else she might bring) will have way more info than Bernard - how does he react
doing a little meta-narrative, they're positioning Knox and Camille as the ones who can, and will need to, united the upper and lower levels
Bernard also seems to be getting the Sherrifs to build their own jail and he's going to okey-doke them
so him and a handful of judicial goons - he must have an ace up his sleeve bc that's overwhelming odds

Good to hear, I've seen a few posts on social media saying that's it's a snooze fest of a season.

A lot of people want instant gratification, but I'm personally okay with a slow burn (I said as much on page one of this topic lol). I actually think the end of season 1 was too rushed, they could have probably spread out everything that was happening so rapidly into another episode or 2. The pace felt "off" and rushed, compared the the previous episodes, but maybe that was due to budget, or being uncertain of being renewed.

From my vague understanding, season 1 was based off a short story: "based on a short story called "Wool" by Hugh Howey, which later expanded into a trilogy of novels titled "Wool," "Shift," and "Dust" that the show is adapted from; essentially, the "Silo" series originated as a single short story"

A lot of people want instant gratification,
I’m also pretty sure there’s a lot of 2 screening going on
The number of people on reddit boards (not just for silo) asking basic questions about stuff that clearly happened onscreen is frustrating to read
Just put down your phone and get into the atmosphere- not just the action

i like getting to the point. doesn't have to be instant gratification, but dragging a story out never really bodes well..

I guess one man's dragging is another's meditation
there is 'traditional' story arc structure
Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution
obvious exposition is now considered hacky, so writers like to find ways to embed exposition into the rising action (or even later)
BUT the rising action is crucial for a genuine climax (yes, we know) and resolution
inciting action right into climax is only good for action movies and 14 yr old boys

Just watched it. That was fantastic imo.
They are paying stuff off in a rather brilliant manner...stuff from as far back as 17 or so episodes ago
Man, did I feel bad for the eater girl
They did Solo (Jimmy) quite well imo, that was good story telling
The Zahn and Ferguson acting was of the 'arse off' variety, so good
Also about 'Eater' (come on Juliet ask her name)...seems like there might have been 'tribes' of pocket survivors over the past 40 years...maybe the group we met are not the only ones left?
So great that Meadows knew everything and kept it from Bernard
Whatever the AI is about to show/tell Lukas has got to be nuts, I hope we get at least some of that payoff next week...it clearly made Meadows just say F it and drink for 25 years. Also made her eventually just want to go out with her own suit
2 suits now for Jules...who's coming with? Gotta be eater, right? They kinda were obv with that

My expectations are pretty high for tonight after last week, I forgot to touch on:
The damn Safeguard!
That whole final scene with Lukas in the tunnel was crazy
I don't know what the safeguard is, but it sounds pretty ominous and I will be interesting IF they divulge how many other Silos have had it used, I am guessing that AI might tell Lukas?
