Spoiler Spoiler Thread: Avengers Infinity War (1 Viewer)

I think y'all are to focused on what you know about comic book Hulk and not focused enough on realities of MCU Hulk.

MCU Hulk just got the *** whipping of his lifetime from Thanos. Something he never experienced before. Now he can likely grow into a bigger rage monster and fight Thanos (who would still win due to the stones), but for the first time in his existance, he feels fear, he feels doubt, and he's not sure if he can beat him. We know from Ragnorck that Hulk in the MCU isn't just a rage monster, but a complex being with many emotions.

In that context, it makes perfect sense that he would do what he did (basically hide). He'll no doubt overcome that, but it will take something happening that propels him to overcome his fear. Black Widow's life being in danger would make perfect sense.

The fact that Hulk stayed Hulk for over a year and started developing a personality from Thor: Ragnorok should explain enough as to why Hulk doesn't want to come out. The personality is still a toddler and it only gets the chance to grow when it is present. He burnt his hand on that hot stove Thanos, and he doesn't want to burn it again.

So the directors have said that undoing the ending is going to come with a big price.

I have felt for a while that it will be Tony. I think he will sacrifice himself to save everyone else. I felt like that even before I watched IW and knew he survived. Dr. Strange obviously saw something involving Tony because he gave up his stone way too fast to save him even after swearing to protect it at all cost. I think Tony is the missing piece to undoing the snap and all the "deaths". I really hope I am wrong. I love RDJ and his character. But this version of the MCU started with him and I think it will end with him.

Maybe Tony just gets the W?

It would take a lot for the Hulk to get to the levels of power he does in the comics like World Breaker Hulk or Heart of the Monster but that's the power level he would need to get to in order to even try to go toe to toe with Thanos even for a little bit. With Hulk getting the beat down at the beginning of the movie you know he's due to have a time to shine in part 2.

I think you are on to something about what you said about Black Widow. In the World War Hulk series his wife dies and a lot of others he cares about and it's enough for him mega rage and beat the brakes off all the X-Men, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Fantastic Four, and others without breaking a sweat. He literally snaps Colossus arms like twigs and slaps the Juggernaut out the way like a gnat at a BBQ. If something happens to Black Widow or possibly even news about Betty Ross "dying" when Thanos snapped his fingers at the end of the movie it might take him to World Breaker levels.

Thanos' gauntlet looks to be out of commission at the end of the movie so him utilizing the power of the stones could be out of the question which would give the Hulk the opportunity to square off with him if he's angry enough. Maybe Thor uses the bifrost and transports himself, Thanos, and Hulk off world somewhere at the end and Hulk absorbs enough gamma somehow like in Heart of the Monster and has the ability to literally destroy planets.... there, Thor and Hulk, maybe Captain Marvel wipe the floor with Thanos and all is well again.

The last paragraph is super far fetched but I think something is definitely going to get the Hulk angry enough in part 2 to get him to power levels we have yet to see in these MCU movies.

I'd go back and edit it, but I'm interested to see exactly how many people correct me.

Prediction for the next movie: We lose Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Pepper Potts.

To wield the soul stone, one must lose one they love. Is that right?
So, Stark could lose Pepper Potts.

To become world breaker Hulk, he must lose someone he loves, right?
So, Banner could lose Natasha.

Steve Rogers is selfless to the point he is willing to lose himself to make this work.
Tony Stark is burdened to the point he is willing to lose himself to make this work.
They are reconciled in respect for one another as they save the universe.

I would so  if that happens. I'd be ok with giving up one or maybe 2 at most. But not all 4. That would just suck. I'm thinking Iron Man and Black Widow would be the ones to go though. Iron Man to save the world and Black Widow to bring the Hulk back to a level that can match Thanos. I can't wait to see how it gets played out.

I loved IW. I'm gonna go see it again, probably this weekend. So much to absorb and process. There's no way to get through it in one sitting and make sense of it all. Well done Marvel!

I’d be ok with leaving everybody or mostly everybody - dead, and not killing Thanos in IW2. Just get the stones out of his possession and move forward.
You could set any upcoming Black Panther and Spider Man movies in a pre-IW era. T’Challa has already been resurrected IIRC.

There are other angles from which one can approach this besides a mass resurrection.

I heard it may be set in the 90s.

I wonder if the Black Widow stand alone movie will be as well.. Or if it's post Infinity War?
