Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (1 Viewer)

It's 10pm and I'm at the San Jose airport waiting to fly back to Denver. I'm bloody tired after meetings with Apple and I want to go to bed. The only thing making this time INCREDIBLY AWESOME is the first episode of the season. Another fantastic entry into the SNW lineup of already fantastic shows.

A bit of Deus ex machina at the end where there just happen to be a law that fixed everything but still a great show none the less. Very emotional and I suspect the Enterprise crew has a future adversary in that PITA Vulcan Admiral.

I didn't take it as Deus ex machina, her testimony was expertly written to mirror our current definitions of an asylum seeker and the Starfleet Captain's discretion regarding asylum seekers matches international maritime law.

I don't think it was one of those last minute revelations. The lawyer knew long before the reveal what she was going to do, that's why she allowed the cross examination of Una. She knew the Vulcan Admiral would do what he did. She set the table for her reveal, that was what I liked about it. It wouldn't have been near as impactful if she had just found it in the UCMJ the night before.

Or at least Spock in particular, with his "emotional outburst." :biglol:

I don't think it was last minute, but I don't think Neera planned it until she asked La'an who she thought turned Una in after she got those other details from her. It was beautifully played once it came together however.

Another good episode.

As with most any time travel tales, I had some questions / issues with a thing or two (Kirk sure picked up driving quickly), but overall, I enjoyed it. Pelia is such a fun character and I need to see more of her. Sure seems as if they're setting up a La'an / Kirk thing for later down the road. And where the fork was Chapel?? I need my Jess Bush fix.

We got a chance to learn a little more about La'an Noonien Singh. The burden she carries with that name is much heavier than she lets others see.

I'm good!!! I got a full La'an episode! :0016:
