Teddy or Jameis? (1 Viewer)

Crazy thing is Teddy has a higher completed air yards per attempt than Rodgers, Brady and Mahomes. This is not to say that Teddy is better than them; this is saying the best QBs in the league bread and butter are the short passes. Teddy has always been a methodical short and mid range passer but the problem he always runs into is he always ends up on a team that doesn't appreciate that and most fans think that everything is the long ball. Teddy would be a problem in the right offense.
Bread and butter is what gets you paid patty don’t get paid because of the crossing routes Brady don’t get paid to throw it in the flat and neither does Rodgers yes you want your qb to consistently make the simple easy throws but you also want them to make the throws that wins you games and have you competing for championships we can all act but our best days was when brees stepped back and threw that ball and it left out the top of your tv screen to see it drop down 45 yards up field in the end zone

No idea why anyone would want teddy back here again I'd go with jameis if this was the only two options available for quarterback

All I'm saying is the VAST majority of their offense is built around the short, quick passes that keeps the defense honest and Teddy can thrive in an offense like that. He isn't meant to be in an Air Coryell offense and I'm not putting him among the best but what I am saying is Teddy can take a team with an offense built like the Chief into a deep playoff run.

What do you consider honest because I feel like a deep threat keeps a defense home a mobile qb keeps a defense home short routes get jumped and cut ala taysom vs cowboys I can agree with you that teddy is serviceable but I wouldn’t want him as our qb/ leader I’d love him as our backup and morale kind of guy we want another championship

I don't see us signing Teddy. Only if we can't sign Jaboo. Even then he would have to compete with Bortles and Taysom.

Honestly, I don't see us being great on offense this year without Jameis as our QB. None of the guys mentioned has his big play ability. Managing a game is cool, but the problem with that is there will be games where you need to do more than just manage the game. Maybe you get the ball on the 20 with a minute left and no timeouts. A dink and dunk QB will have a hard time going 80 yards without a big play happening. Add to that AK being out for some games and we will need someone who can make things happen. I personally don't think that guy should be Taysom, Bortles or Teddy.

In the FA market I don't see a better option than Jameis and I don't think one of this year's class of rookies would be better than anybody mentioned already. So if not Jameis, then who would be a better option?

When typing that, I had a specific team in mind plus multitasking, so I should have fleshed that out more. I was thinking about the 2020 Bucs....

My last word on the subject is that for either of these guys to thrive the Saints need to add two quality WRs, preferably guys with burst who can take that 10-yard slant and go 50-yards to the house.
I also think last year the Saints clearly make the playoffs with either of these two starting. I prefer Teddy because I trust him more and I think he naturally fits this offense. I also think he will be cheaper and better allow you to fill out the roster while serving as a bridge to a young franchise QB. But if we choose to roll with Jameis, that’s a reasonable choice as well.

Jameis I can see a Super Bowl teddy not so much but a dream off-season would be Jarvis Landry tyrann Matthieu and explosive wr or a real tight end

Jameis Winston is a legitimate middle 10 to 20 starter in the NFL. Teddy Bridgewater is a 28 to 32 type starter fringing on a backup at this point. The Saints will make cap room if Winston wants to be in New Orleans. Winston has shown he was willing to take less money to revamp his career. Everything he puts out in social media says he is a family man of faith and I genuinely think if he feels it is his path to stay in New Orleans both the Saints and Winston will work out a cap friendly deal to make that happen. Teddy would be the top fall back plan. I do not like any of the QBs in this draft to be a starter. We have a veteran defense that is competitive. My hope is over the next few seasons we can make it work with Winston and draft well to get out of cap hell. If we lose Armstead and Williams those will likely be two more third round picks in next year's draft.
