Teddy or Jameis? (1 Viewer)

I say things because I believe them to be true, and are based on what I have personally observed... It's easy to agree and repeat what you hear the masses say, then gang up on those that don't fall in line.. It's pretty tried and true these days... sometimes wisdom is not conventional... nor is it wisdom at all... just a popularity contest and everyone likes to say I told ya so after the fact.

Or, maybe, just maybe, people are also saying what they believe and aren't following the herd. On the other hand, some people feel the need to be contrarian all the time and don't even realize that they are doing it. I know I'm one of those a lot of the time.

On yet another hand, Cam Jordan is a lemming Winston fan boy:

Winston for sure.

Teddy's 5-0 was defensive wins. His offense scored off of field goals for us.

Winston, got us touchdowns. Winston can score with less talent, teddy struggled with that with more talent.
I don't get it...do we just say stuff to say it regardless if its true or not?

the first 2 games, sure they were defensive wins, but lets not act like dude stunk up the joint when he was here:

31-24 and 36-25 sure looks like some defensive slugfests there....he played so well that Drew rushed back to re-claim his team a week before he really should've.

Winston is the last girl in the club when the lights come on... and the Saints are the old hammered horny guy with beer goggles and no options... Enjoy ya'lls breakfast!

I will be hoping it's edible... I may stop in for leftovers after my fishing trips.

In the end... I hope ya'll are right.... Cya... Cya... Cya... Cya.... Cya... Cya,,,

Do we have to wait til the season starts for your fishing trips?!?

IMO neither guy is the long term answer, and I still want to see us draft a QB pretty high... but there is a discussion to be had... Some people just refuse to have it.

There never was a need for this discussion....wrong again and yet you are somehow the victim and everyone else's opinion is just a popularity contest....right.....

5 days ago - Cam would have danced the Jig on Insta if we would have landed Watson... There was a 1 million page thread on it here... As opposed to the 20 page thread when JW was signed.

It's not contrarian... It's direct observation... without the fanboy glasses.

Everyone wanted Watson man. The guy is a superstar. Going for Watson isn't a dig at Jameis. The reality is, most Saints fans wanted Jameis back if we couldn't land Watson. That's pretty well documented.

No doubt... The Saints went after an upgrade at QB... They still need to. JW is good for now... but not the answer.

My point here was the "following the herd" post response... Most of the herd switched fanboy glasses real quick when Watson was thrown into the equation...

Winston was the last girl on the bleachers at the dance when the Saints signed him to deal worth just a bit over backup money in guarantees...

Yet now we are here acting like he was the 1st choice all along, and that he's somehow not a consolation prize, and that his teammates would ever in a million years publicly do or say anything but good things about him... even though they were ALL on board with replacing him with Watson just last week.

He wasn't the last option.

If the Saints didn't want to Jameis, they'd have made plays for Baker or Jimmy G, both of whom are available for reasonable draft compensation.

Both of those would have required trading assets... Those guys weren't on the bleachers with Winston. And they may have made plays for them... and decided they weren't enough of an upgrade per cost.

One thing that's not disputable is... The Saints FO was actively looking to replace JW this offseason with a better player. And they will likely continue to do so until the find a real franchise QB... just as they should.

Well, sure. Everyone wanted Watson including me and you. But that doesn't change the fact that Cam isn't a fanboy or a lemming and yet he is happy that we signed Winston. So, maybe it's possible that everyone that likes the Winston signing isn't a fanboy or a lemming? And maybe they just think he was the best option available at this time?

But, that doesn't change the fact that Winston is a at worst a solid starting QB with upside to be very good. Maybe he never gets there, but IMO it's better than going with a guy that you pretty much know isn't going to get much better. And in the circumstance we are in, Winston is the best option considering the draft pick consideration and health of other options. And maybe in the end, that will turn out to be wrong. But, I just find it strange that you really want it to be the case that people just hold that position because they are lemmings and fan boys, when there are valid arguments for why Winston is the best option. I also think there are possibly valid arguments for Jimmy G and Mayfield. Although I disagree with those arguments, I don't just assume it's because those people are lemmings or Jimmy G/Mayfield fanboys.

Or maybe they weren't an upgrade at all. Both are inferior quarterbacks. The only quarterback they tried for was a superstar.

Any other free agent quarterback or quarterback available via trade (aside from Watson and Wilson) would be downgrades.

Whether Winston can reach his ceiling and be a franchise quarterback has yet to be determined but he was still the best available option not named Watson or Wilson.

I mean, changing to wanting Watson when he comes on the market is pretty much so a sign that people weren't Winston fanboys or part of a herd in the first place isn't it? Watson is just an objectively better QB than Winston and even Winston's ceiling isn't as high as Watson's ceiling.

Changing your mind when new data and new options come available is a sign of intelligence and flexibility, not herd mentality. Herd mentality is refusing to change you mind despite new information and new opportunities.

And I still don't get your fascination will calling people who disagree with you "fanboys", "lemmings", or part of a "herd." I mean, what are we kids? Can't we just have a rational conversation without trying to refute what someone says with ad hominem arguments?
