Teddy or Jameis? (2 Viewers)

I think both are bottom 12 QBs in this league. Winston could get hot and have a top 10 season getting us to the playoffs while Bridgewater’s ceiling is 16th best QB.

Based on presumed cost, I’d sign Bridgewater, fix the cap, and hope to draft a QB this year or next.

It really is that simple. He was signed as the most expensive backup in the NFL not because the Saints desperately wanted premium depth, they saw him as the quarterback of the future.

So why did he leave? Well, it’s pretty simple – Drew Brees didn’t. The Saints were like many a team that’s had to navigate the final years of an aging legend’s career. Brees legitimately considered retirement every offseason since the 2017 season, he said so himself. The Saints opted not to go the route chosen by the Patriots with Tom Brady and allow a legendary quarterback to go win a Super Bowl with another team. That decision cost them Bridgewater.

The only way I can see Teddy back with us is if our staff falls in love with a qb in this year's draft that we can get. You sign Teddy to go this year, allowing our rookie to sit and learn.
This is no longer about which QB gives us the best chance to win. Jamies has earned a long term deal, and has way more upside than Teddy.

It is about whether Jamies wants to come here for the money/yrs we offer him. If the Saints commit to Jamies for a long term deal, and make him day one starter. Then he is our guy. We are also Jamies 1st choice, he likes it here down south, close to home. But.......do the Saints want Jamies enough to give him a long term deal. 25mil to 28 mill a yr for 3.4 yrs? Anything less and it would just seem to Jamies like the movie groundhog day all over again. I'm pretty confident that the Saints will do what they have been doing and keeping it in house. They will select between TB and JW.

If the Saints were of a mind that they want to draft/FA a QB, now or in 2023. And not go with JW. Teddy would be the best bridge QB. Teddy would cost less, and would be more open to signing a 2 yr deal, and he would move on easier. We could win 10 games with Teddy. It really looks to be has to be Teddy as QB1. It ills me to!!! It's like getting Dominoes pizza, when all you have been eating for years is Pizza Delicious.

Excellent post. Sean sought to trade for Teddy, right after Jamies went down also. I believe. Sean thought a lot of Teddy.

I'd prefer JW, but I'd take Teddy as an "in case of fire, sign QB" and I'd still not take a QB in this draft afterwards. Like I've said, Teddy went into 2 sheetty situations after NO....Carolina is a dumpster fire, and Denver is about to find out that Wilson isn't the solution to their problems either.

If we do sign JW, Teddy, Trubisky (shudder), roll with Hill, or even Book....I'd still not draft a QB because our problem last year was not, and I repeat, was not, the QB position. Don't set a QB up for failure and then blame that QB for failing. Fix the WRs & TEs first!
This is just as true today as it was at the end of the season.

The team, players and coaches let all the QBs down last yr. , Not the other way around. Our QBs over achieved Jamies, Taysom, Trevor, Book. given the hands they were dealt. We still came away w/ 9 wins just out of the playoffs. Rebuild the WR, TE, and perhaps RB in both the draft and FA first. You got that right!

The real let down coaching performances in my opinion was TE and O line. Both were replaced by DA, with the addition of Morone as O line coach and Rousher's move back as running game coordinator and TE coach. These coaching changes will be pivotal in our playoff chances next year. Much more pivotal then, whether, it's Jamies or Teddy as QB1. All the QBs last yr were good, w/ good O line protection.

There is a discussion to be had between Teddy and JW...

Teddy was 5-0 as a starter with in the same offensive system... Had a better completion percentage (by almost 10 percent) - Had more Yards (in 2 less games) and posted a near identical TD to INT ratio...

On top of that, he also knows the system, isn't coming off an ACL injury, and is very well/liked respected by the players and staff...

He will also likely be cheaper to sign.

IMO neither guy is the long term answer, and I still want to see us draft a QB pretty high... but there is a discussion to be had... Some people just refuse to have it.
Teddy also had Michael Thomas and Winston didn’t. Teddy also had a healthier OL.

You echo lemmings gotta get yall stories together every morning before yall post... and review for consistency or something.... I have been told repeatedly by your opinion overlords that there was no QB worth a 1st round pick this year unless, of course, Jameis enters the draft.

This notion that JW is somehow miles better than guys like Teddy, or even TH7... Is super perplexing to me. There is literally no evidence to back that up from a results on the field standpoint. (All of them have been game managing QBs that win games by doing less- and all have shown they can do that - Stats seem pretty irrelevant in that capacity) I'd say any of them are about as likely as the other to win about the same number of games in a Saints uniform in 2022 as any other... because that's what the numbers say.

And none of them are the most sought after guys by any NFL team by any stretch of the imagination. No one has been knocking down their doors... There is no constant flow of "rumors"... No "high drama"... No "whispers" because these guys are all middle tier place holders for a true franchise QBs.

I mean if this is just a matter of personal preference, then just say that... and stop acting like he's anything but a FA QB that's coming off an ACL injury and isn't on the roster and hasn't been given much interest by any team in the league except for a couple years on a flyer by Sean Payton (who held him back and made him a game manager before abruptly retiring after seeing what he could do in his offense)... because it's goofy.
Hey Infoman, just wanted to invite you to the next echo lemming breakfast, so you can start coordinating your posts with the rest of us. There will be coffee, and all the W's you can eat! No hard feelings but you're gonna have to give up on that Bridgewater nonsense and get on the Jameis train. And if you have any dietary restrictions, we got you covered. Jameis will be serving up regular W's, no salt W's, even sugar free W's.

Winston is the last girl in the club when the lights come on... and the Saints are the old hammered horny guy with beer goggles and no options... Enjoy ya'lls breakfast!

I will be hoping it's edible... I may stop in for leftovers after my fishing trips.

In the end... I hope ya'll are right.... Cya... Cya... Cya... Cya.... Cya... Cya,,,

You know, you don't always have to say things just so you can be different. Sometimes the conventional wisdom is well, wisdom.

I say things because I believe them to be true, and are based on what I have personally observed... It's easy to agree and repeat what you hear the masses say, then gang up on those that don't fall in line.. It's pretty tried and true these days... sometimes wisdom is not conventional... nor is it wisdom at all... just a popularity contest and everyone likes to say I told ya so after the fact.
