Teddy or Jameis? (1 Viewer)

That man is barely capable and I’m a big taysom fan found him on madden before he was getting special team reps , I don’t want a qb who consistently misses touchdown passes downfield killing the momentum

Hyperbole... he did that once... with a jacked up finger last year. And the word is "comparable". And it's fine to have that opinion. Just find a reason for it that makes sense... or is at least honest.

I watch every game that deep ball plus 35 yards flutters all the time I seen deonte have to stop several times to comeback to the ball his best throw and best game was the playoff game against minny

Teddy had an opportunity to start in Carolina, they decided to move on, teddy had a chance to start in Denver, they decided to move on. I like Teddy, but he's not the long term answer at QB. If you want to draft a rookie and have teddy manage the team until the rookie is one thing, but Winston is a SIGNIFICANTLY better QB at this stage in both of their careers.

I don't think any of them are the long term answer at QB... You are right about Teddy... People without JW fanboy glasses on can say the same about him washing out in TB, and watching Sean decide to give a hammock a try after watching him start for a half season...

I think they basically would all yield the same results... Manage the game, lean on the run game and defense, don't turn the ball over... win about 10 games in a weak division.... Keep looking for real Franchise QB in 2023.

I don't see how any of them make us significantly better from a team wins perspective... Again, if it's personal preference on how you like to see this team be a middling playoff contender... then say that, and drop all the other lame arguments.

@SWJJ - I have seen his highlights, and his low lights when he played in TB... This whole board had a good Ole time making fun of him for years when he was there... He was a "W" penciled in on our schedule for quite some time.

My eyes and mind focus on what all these guys have done in B&G... and what I think the can do in 2022 in B&G.
Are you high?

Tampa split the series with us 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

The only season we swept them was 2019 when he threw 30 INTs cause Bruce Arians took over and told him he didn't care about interceptions.

Saying we penciled in Wins is serious revisionist history. Before Bruce Arians Winston had never thrown more than 18 ints.

This is exabit A of what I am talking about... Just say "I prefer my QB to have a huge arm. The fact that we win and lose the same number of games with any of these QBs doesn't matter to me... as Long as we can throw it deep... That's personal my preference"

Just say that. That makes more sense.

What does that have to do with anything!

TB was perpetually behind us in the division race while he was QB... division games are always a coin flip (I penciled them anyway) ... no matter how good or bad the teams are.... You know this.... Man!

Jameis has thrown for 5000 yards and had a trash coach Bruce arians is not that good every qb he’s had has had a career high in interceptions so leave the 30 interceptions convo out bridgewater doesn’t make a team better and if you watched the offense we need to be better Jameis made us better he made us a offensive threat if he didn’t get hurt by a bad tackle this likely wouldn’t even be a conversation

yeah I do name the last team that won a Super Bowl who’s qb didn’t have a cannon. And yeah the wins and losses maybe the same but when playoff time comes that’s when you have to play situational football know what people biggest complaint was with drew these last 5 years (including micheal Thomas ) it’s easy to shut the offense down when you have no big play threats besides Alvin kamara breaking one because we got a team full of noodle arms lol

You said we chalked up a W when we played them, but that wasn't true.

I did.... LOL But division games don't work that way.... and he was still our division birch. LOL

And again... I'll say this for the 1000th time... I am not against having JW back and starting for this team. I think he can help us win games... I just don't subscribe to the JW or bust mentality. I think we can win with or without him... because we have a guy on the team that has proven that, and there is another guys out there (Teddy) that has also proven that.

Also - Some people here need to hear this and wrap their heads around it... because if a team like the Steelers, Seahawks, Carolina, or TB throws $20+ a season at JW... We ain't getting him... and we will have to shutdown this board for a month to pass out butthurt cream.

Why would you want to sign Teddy with such a low ceiling? At least with Winston, we know he can throw.

Teddy is what he is. A bottom 3rd qb that has no ceiling. He isnt going to elevate a team. He isnt going to have weeks where he goes out there and wins games. He doesnt make his receivers better. He doesnt have the arm talent to do that. He is a plus level backup or a below average starter. Great dude, great teammate, but a guy you go get to solidify the QB position, he is not.

Winston played with a stacked deck and still managed to get things done in a reasonably efficient way considering the circumstances. He has a ceiling that I dont know weve reached yet. Its somewhere between 30/30 Jameis and last years version of game manager with no weapons Jameis. Thats good enough for what we need here. Its not the perfect situation, but amongst who is left out there, it is the best one. If not, draft a qb and hope.

And there is no world, or reality, or parallel universe anymore where Taysom is IN the conversation. That ship sailed. His position going forward is #3 QB and full time joker. Nola.com article recently appeared to have info that we can finally put that to bed:
  1. One addendum to the quarterback conversation: It appears the idea of Taysom Hill potentially competing for a starting role in New Orleans has run its course. Once he recovers from his multiple 2021 injuries, it looks like he will be locked into his valuable multi-purpose role.

Before we start taysom we better draft Malik Willis he just as fast didn’t get hurt every year in college and can actually throw the ball down field

Crazy thing is Teddy has a higher completed air yards per attempt than Rodgers, Brady and Mahomes. This is not to say that Teddy is better than them; this is saying the best QBs in the league bread and butter are the short passes. Teddy has always been a methodical short and mid range passer but the problem he always runs into is he always ends up on a team that doesn't appreciate that and most fans think that everything is the long ball. Teddy would be a problem in the right offense.
