That Derek Carr Contract is Looking Pretty Brilliant Now (1 Viewer)

Guys, Carr has $51 million in prorated and guaranteed roster bonuses on the books. $41 million of that would hit our cap IMMEDIATELY upon trading/cutting him. The Saints cannot afford to do anything with him. He is not going anywhere for at least 2 more years.

He can be our Luol Deng, a guy the Lakers paid for two years and never let him in the building.

just curious... but how many coaches have been fired during Carr's road to 40k? Gotta be a record, and certainly an interesting stat.
I would wager that 80% of those losses weren't his fault. Remember that the Raiders have NEVER had a defense ranked higher than ~22nd during his tenure there.

But if you think the QB is responsible for wins and losses, you're watching the wrong sport. Go watch singles tennis or golf.

1000% disagree on your QB take about responsibility for wins and losses.

Did you watch Carr and the Raiders? Lots of drives, few points to show.

Here's 7 minutes of his pick 6's with the Raiders.

SP would have no problem trading him regardless. Looks at Russell Wilson.

Let that sink in

Although no NFL quarterback has ever lost to all 32 franchises, four quarterbacks in NFL history have beaten all 32 teams: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Drew Brees.

Tell your boy to quit spending and start selling.

Well thanks for admitting it is a bad contract. Still sell it. Take the loss and let’s move on .

But as told here, how the Saints handle the salary cap isn’t a problem because the cap always goes up and the FO is engaging in “future accounting.”

If true than Carr’s contract number shouldn’t matter. No?

You’ve watched all of his Raider games to know?

It all matters. We're 70 million over the cap for next year already. The only way to get under the cap is to do exactly what we can't afford, push contracts to future years. Mickey has destroyed this teams ability to build for the future. You're going to have to have a 2006/2017 draft class again just to tread water. "Make it happen Loomis" has made it happen and now we're paying the price for it.

I simply asked a question about an interesting stat. It appears you added your own context to it..

If anyone lives in America, he/she is surrounded by Cowboys/Raiders fans. I live in the Deep South and I can rattle off 20 die hard Raiders fans in a minute or so. THEY watch all of the Raiders games. They mocked me endlessly 2 years ago when he first came and it has not subsided at all. Why do people still make excuses for sub-par players ?
