That Derek Carr Contract is Looking Pretty Brilliant Now (2 Viewers)

I made this argument last year, but understandably, it didn’t resonate. Carr ended up playing right around the worth of his contract in 2023 when you consider all the numbers and our win total. He’s clearly over performing it now.

Loomis looks like a genius locking him down at $37m a year and only $60m guaranteed when guys like Prescott are now getting $60m a year and $231m guaranteed.

Having a QB on that manageable of a contract is going to make 2025/26 more competitive as well for the Saints.
No way! We should have kept Winston! Kidding of course! I think Carr was banged up with injuries last season which affected his performance. This season looks like we are getting our money’s worth.

I mean pump faking a screen is probably not a great plan, but he played a solid gavme. Would have liked to see a little more aggressive deep shots but he did what he needed to do

Yeah, that was a dumb throw he made. Should have just throw it at someone's feet or ate it for a 5 yard sack, but he played okay overall today and even led a good 2 minute drill. He's far from the overall problem with this team. The OL is the major issue along with making dumb mistakes at the wrong time. Still the OL looked better this week than last week so I have some hope it will be better in the weeks to come, but I'm not sure they will stop doing dumb things at the worst times.

This team just isn't good enough or deep enough to overcome dumb mistakes.

The way I see it he looked good the first two games because the game plan left him out of the plan except for a few deep passes that happened to work.

The last two games is what you will get until it doesn’t matter, just like last year.

Injuries are a crutch, if you don’t have adequate depth, that’s on the front office. If you can’t scheme the next man up, that’s on coaching. If you keep running kamara up the gut and to the falcons dominant side, that’s also on coaching.

That was such a poorly executed play all around. Judon was on him in less than a second and Carr had nowhere to go with it. He probably could have held it and taken a sack, but how often do passes get batted like that in the backfield? It was likely going to Olave's feet if it had gotten around Judon.

Playcalling aside, no one has good depth in this league.

This is such nonsense. If players didn’t matter and it was all about depth, teams wouldn’t pay starters so much.

You can only have so much depth. We went out there today with injuries everywhere and were a pass interference call and 58 yard FG from winning a tough road divisional game.

And every other team deals with injuries as well. They can suck it up, straighten out the cap and pay for better depth, or keep doing what they are doing, that’s working.
