The Building is on FIRE and Mrs Gayle Benson’s CEO is watching it burn. (1 Viewer)

9-8 season is no reason for management to see it as a "dumpster fire". One more lousy win would have put them into the playoffs. I agree, all of us wanted more but this leadership group won't look at it and panic. And it was a 2 game improvement over last season

What about San Fran? They fired two successive coaches after just 1 year each because it was obvious they weren't the right fit for a championship. And look what they landed in their third year.

And we are going to sit on our thumbs for 3 years with a coach who is very clearly not right because of continuity. It's lazy and complacent leadership.
I think history does play into this.
Even though they haven’t won a championship in thirty years, it still gives an aura because they can always point to those Lombardis.
It does look a lot more dysfunctional when you fire two or three consecutive coaches when you got nothing in the trophy case.

She needs to fire everyone and keep ML as an advisor like what Seattle is doing with Carrol

Look, I am no fan of Dennis Allen and I REALLY hope we make a change, but this statement is the exact reason I believe us fans have given Sean Payton way too much credit. Bill B. had Tom Brady, arguably the best to ever play the game and he got 6 Superbowl victories and made it 3 other times. Sean Payton had (arguably) the 2nd or 3rd best to ever play the game with Drew Brees and we only went to and won 1. Yes, we were screwed a couple of times, but there's no guarantees if we didn't. Sean, at minimum, should have brought this city at least 3 superbowl wins with a couple more appearances. Also, because he was essentially the GM, you have to blame Sean for all the crap free agent/draft picks we've made. It seems like we always strike gold in the 3rd round or later and even Undrafted rookies, but we crap the bed on most of his 1st round & 2nd round picks. Sean Payton left because he saw the team was getting worse and he saw the cap hell that HE helped put us in.
I agree with what you say about Sean Payton being overly credited, but that does nothing for the team's future.
Three straight coaching failures is considered a drought.
There will always be only ONE Coaching failure if changes are not made.

Micky Loomis is a good man and a great accountant. But he is not a football man and has no vision for the future. He owes his loyalty to Mrs Benson and the fans, not his Coaches and Staff. News is that he is considering bringing back Dennis Allen and hiring ex-Coach Jon Gruden who is under suspension by the NFL for Racism. What positive effect could that bring to a team that has already lost respect for its Head Coach because of how he mistreated a Black Quarterback whom they ( the players) respected and believed in? Does anyone care how this could affect the culture of the team, the loyalty of the fans of color, and the signing of highly talented- high character black players in Free Agency?

It’s time to move on. We cannot afford to keep stumbling, we must keep pace with the rest of the league. WAKE UP! It’s time to bring in a real Fire Fighter and Builder, to put out the fire and repair the damages

It’s time to hire the best GM available and give him all the Keys.

We are at a crossroads, if the wrong decision is made it may be decades before we win another Championship, or maybe Never.

As down as I am on Allen, this seems a little over the top and dramatic for a team that just finished 9-8 a couple of years removed from losing a HOF caliber HC and QB.

lol.i remember just 4 years ago the same people on here blasting Loomis were blasting Bree’s’ arm strength and ready to can him too. I said then and I say now “ you’re going to miss him when he’s gone”.

It's not so much the 9/8 record as the wasted talent and opportunities. They had the weakest schedule in the weakest division.

He is not missed in Vagas.

by what measure is mickey loomis one of the top GMs in the league? seriously. what big brain moves has he made in the last decade? the only thing he's known for is his cap management which hasn't made the team better.

we played the easiest schedule in the NFL and mostly again backup QBs. the irony is that we beat maybe one team that was above .500 the entire season. this season was a total disappointment.
So you judge Mickey Loomis only on time with DA? What about the previous 16 years? This team has been good for a long time and ML has found a way to get players signed, resigned, structured etc.

He is one of thd better GMs in the league.

And for those on this site calling out Mrs. Benson. We don’t have rich companies and people capable of buying an NFL team in New Orleans. We’re lucky she’s kept them here.

Blaming Mrs. Benson is Chicken S by the way. The best type of owner stays out of the way and lets the football people run the organization. If DA has another non-playoff season, I’m sure a move will get made.
For 40 years the Saints fired people right and left. It didn’t work.

ML is one of the top GM's in the league. One thing we have been known for under his tenure is stability. I was not.. and am not... a fan of DA. That being said teams that fire coaches every other year are losing franchises (See Carolina and Vegas)... I am on board giving DA one more year to see how this plays out but getting rid of ML would be a massive mistake

Sean chose NOLA because he had the freedom to choose personnel He started with a QB ( Brees ) who will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

it’s important to consider his tenure of stability in context.

He got really lucky. You need luck to be great. But the miscalculations since Sean left are difficult to ignore.

We had one of the best QBs ever during those 16 years. A guy who elevated a lot of players who we know wouldn’t have had such great careers without him. We know this because we see what happened to many of them when they left. So for those years all Mickey really had to do was field a competent defense and this team would have not just been good, but likely a dynasty. It didn’t happen. Also let’s not forget what this team was when Mickey was in charge BEFORE Sean and Drew came here.

You can say Mickey is one of the best GMs in the league but aside from maybe some creative but risky financial decisions that haven’t paid off and two really good drafts over his entire tenure, I say he’s overrated.

I don’t blame Gayle anymore than I would blame anyone who inherited something they didn’t work for and don’t understand. Regardless, if this team continues to be managed horribly, and she owns the team, unfortunately she bares some responsibility in putting the right ppl in charge to fix it.

Can't ignore him before 2005. He was responsible for one of the biggest draft busts in franchise history, Jonathan Sullivan.
