We could have gotten a top tier Head Coach when SP left.

Look at where the franchise was then ( a few short years ago ) and look where it is now.

The franchise is meaningfully worse today than when SP left.

The Saints are the worst or 2nd to worst job in the cycle. That’s being proven out daily. Aaron Glenn chose the Jets not the Saints. The Jets are a better job even with their Ownership situation.

The Saints fall has been so sharp and fast it’s shocking. But when you look at the moves that have been since SP left - you just can’t overcome the mistakes it’s been 90%+ misses in every department. Coaching hires , scouting , pro personnel , draft production -

Our best draft pick is Olave who isn’t going to make it and already wants out of New Orleans.

Who are the top tier coaches that we are missing out on?

Not sure if you can share this, but is McCarthy the guy Loomis is going with?

Again? Dont t worry. Not even tip tier guys pass up the opportunity to reach the absolute pinnacle of their profession.

At this point yes.

He likes Carr , likes the stability he will get.

I think his tune changes if someone else wants him. But I think his main market this year as a HC in the league is the Saints.

ya we went with an inhouse guy when we needed a structure change when sean left but this time around im
not sure there is a great candidate.

Aaron Glenn passing on the Jets job would be akin to Deuce McAllister passing on the Saints job. Like Vrabel, like Demeco, guys aren’t going to pass up the opportunity to be the head coach of the organization they primarily played for.

It is arguable that Glenn was even “Top tier.”

I feel like people are hitting the panic button prematurely based on a flimsy candidate getting hired by the team he primarily played for.

We were much less attractive in 2006.

We’ve proven we can be a winning organization with a very committed owner. That will make this a much more attractive job than this post makes it seem.

We’re not as attractive as Chicago with Caleb Williams. Aaron Glenn went to NY in large part because he is close with the GM.

There’s no doubt that the Saints’ stock has fallen precipitously since CSP left. Hiring DA set things back a lot. As far as the Jets are concerned, Glenn was drafted by them, started there, and therefore must feel a strong level of comfort in taking the HC job. I wouldn’t read anything anti—Saints in that.

Disagree that Olave has been their best pick. I think Fuaga Iis. Whether Olave wants out has not been proven.

There have unquestionably been many mistakes made, but the drafting woes go back to the CSP era. Some have pointed out the dearth of all-pro players in recent drafts. That is my main concern because the only way out of the cap situation lies in the draft. And that means they need better scouting and NO trading up.
