So let's talk about that rumor about the finale that's been making the rounds....*major possible spoilers.* Or perhaps complete BS. Time will tell:

There's been a rumor floating around since last week that Din is going to die in the finale. As best I can tell, this rumor originated independently from two sources: YouTuber Star Wars Theory (who is a weird drama queen with a public and contentious relationship with Lucasfilm) and another channel called Den of Nerds, which trades in a lot of "Fandom Menace," "M-SHE-U" nonsense. Neither of these guys is well known for breaking major information, although DoN has gotten some things right here and there.

So on the surface, this would be pretty easy to dismiss. Except for last week, Jeff Sneider said he had a source tell him that Pedro Pascal was unhappy with the show and there was behind the scenes discord between him and production. Sneider doesn't bat 1000, but he's not a bullshirt artist either. He used to work for Variety and is very keyed into productions. He broke that there would be three movies, one directed by Dave Filoni, announced at Celebration before anyone else and he was correct.

People who are choosing to believe all of this are pointing to things like the general sidelining of Din in favor of Bo-Katan this season. Also the fact that Pedro Pascal wasn't as Star Wars Celebration last weekend, but pretty much everyone else was. This also isn't the first report of discord between Pascal and Lucasfilm. Grace Randolph, who is legitimately crazy and only right about 30% of the time, reported he stormed off set during season 2. Nobody else ever confirmed or denied that.

This is making the rounds big time and I've seen people talking about it all over the place, but for me personally I think the evidence is weak. No established leakers have said anything about it. Although they didn't say anything about Jack Black and Lizzo, either. We shall see. Just broaching the subject since this rumor has blown up over the past few days.

I saw that there was supposedly an incident during S1 as well.

I’d really be interested in what the issue Pedro has bc this has to be the easiest check he’s ever cashed

But him departing would kind of explain some of the herky jerky plotting this season
They certainly did go out of their way to separate Din from the other Mandos - the weirdest part of that whole sequence was Grogu not throwing a Jedi Force fit once they wrapped up Din
BUT
To put Grogu through that - that seems a step too dark for how they’ve built the Grogu character so far

I was really getting the sense his plot armor isn't particularly thick after last episode. I was starting to think Din would eat it right there, and Grogu would go apestuff.

IDK but the series went off the rails when they decided to focus on Mando unification instead of investing in Din and Grogos travels. Could have been like a modern space version of Kung Fu. Instead we get space refugees battling the Empire, again Yea...

Nah - that kung fu/hulk/fugitive/run tin tin formula works fine with network tv trying to pump out dozens of episodes with no end in sight
But current 8-12 episode seasons really need arcs - that’s one of the reasons so many responded so we’ll to Andor (and last of us , to a degree) was the 3 discrete mini arcs inside a season arc

No, of course, Mando is complicated bc it’s arcs have to intertwine somewhat with other SW shows, but I think the serialized Yojimbo setup was the appetizer to get people invested in the characters to get to the larger story

Just getting started with the latest episode.

Is it just me, or has the cinematic quality/budget seem to have gone way up here as of late?

Beautifully shot. Feels like I’m at a theater watching one of the main saga movies.

I just hoped this one Star Wars story didn't end up being taken over by the Empire or First Order. Kind of like Boba except with better writing and stories. Nope we get a "bridge" to another Empire vs series.
Same old same.

But Mandalorians go back thousands of years and are linked to the rise of the jedi
There would be no reason to anticipate that a story about one or many of them wouldn’t be deeply tied to SW mythos

I'm not buying any of the rumour mill nonsense. Probably started by fan bois who don't like that the show is actually a Star Wars show and not a 70s-derivitive rehash of Kung Fu/Fugitive/Hulk. Not the same old thing they want, so it must be a disaster of epic proportions. "Oh, they're going to kill off Din!" What nonsense.

Honestly, I don't understand what the issue is. The show just keeps getting bigger in scope, intricacies, and production values and some people are griping about it instead of enjoying the expansion. Just pathetic.

If they were getting rid of Din, Gideon would have killed him right on the spot rather than "taking him away for interrogation." That felt manipulated, so Din isn't getting killed off since they forced a survival of being captured. Gideon then raises the door and tells his men to kill all the Mandalorians, why did he Din alive? He had no reason to except that we're not going to kill the main character. So, no, the rumour is not happening, just based on that deus ex machina alone.

Season 1 started with the remnants of the Empire trying to snatch Grogu for their cloning experiments, so it's been that from the very beginning. It only stands to reason that will ramp up as the series continues.

Were those Snoke clones in the “bantha tank” things Gideon walked past?

another rumor I've seen is Gideon is going to mind flay Din and make him forget all about his time with Grogu and then have Din fight on the side of the Empire which could lead to Din fighting Bo Katan and him hunting down Grogu next season which might be even worse than killing him off. I guess we will find out in a few days

Said this last week. I’m seeing subtle clues both in the writing and some of the camera shots that they’re setting up Katie Sackhoff to be the next lead.

It really makes sense. Pedro honestly seems to be a bit “above” this series profile-wise, IMO. Doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s no longer a fan. Probably a little burned out too.

I would think this would be his easiest gig. Just do some voice over work for a few days and done. It's possible he hasn't been on set for all of season 3 because we haven't seen him helmetless yet this season (i'm sure that's coming this next episode though)
