Finale was super intense. Loved every second of it. And I squealed at that last scene. There are so many implications there and I can't wait to see where things go. This season was a massive success.
i felt so bad seeing that final scene without my son
he's going to absolutely **** at that final reveal

Seeing that Taiki Waititi directed the last one makes so much sense. By far the funniest episode, along with great action, real drama, and good acting.

The Storm Troopers bit in the beginning was hilarious, but I also wanted to murder them. Actually I wanted baby Yoda to murder them. But them trying to shoot the metal object on the ground and missing, repeatedly, and badly, O..M...G... haha.

Yes, Mando hates droids due to them murdering his parents and his village. That's pretty obvious, but really great that he eventually had a ton of respect for the IG-11 'nanny droid' at the end there. He was legit sad.

When the helmet came off my wife was like.. omg.. put it back on! haha. Just like Kylo Ren.

Oh, and Baby Yoda stopping the flames and basically frying that trooper.. so cool. I actually thought he would heal Mando again, but I like that they did it with the droid using Bacta infusions.

I didn't watch Rebels, so I wasn't that familiar with the Darksaber. I thought it was just a really awesome vibroblade at first. So, does this mean he killed Bo-Katan or are they going to try to say he's "Mandalore?" Is this Gideon guy a force user? Or just a badass? They definitely set up a great antagonist.

So, are we going to find the planet of "wizard enemies"? Any shot of a run in with Luke or any Jedi he starts to train prior to Kylo killing everyone?

but it wasn't like kylo - pedro didn't have his hair blown out for that shot like adam driver did - he was hardly recognizable as pedro

well bo-katan is the last one we see with it in clone wars
i didn't spot this but reddit said all the mandos that swooped in to save kid mando had deathwatch insignia
which makes sense and was a nice foreshadowing of the darksaber
seems like they might reference Clone Wars a lot in s2 - but also i wonder if there will be crossties with the Obi-wan series since he was tight with Satine and fought deathwatch

Is this Gideon guy a force user?

lot of speculation that this is why he wants baby yoda. To figure out how to “harvest” the force for himself

thinking about it, this whole season feels like a preamble
our hero didn't even get his quest until the final episode

plus while the allusion wasn't an exact parallel, the river Styx imagery was not subtle
so he kinda sorta died *helmet off* - gets reborn with his new mission and identity
and if the Styx thing is accurate, he's going to the underworld, which - picking up the cues in the episode - they'll be travelling to the wreckage of the past
(which is certainly the dominant aesthetic of the sequel trilogy)

It could mean Bo-Katan is dead. We know Mandalore got smashed by the Empire for rebelling, essentially. And it seems like Gideon was a major player in trying to wipe out the Mandalorians and maybe even has a bit of a Mando cultural fetish. Of course, maybe he just got his hands on the Darksaber in the destruction. And obviously they did not succeed in wiping the Mandalorians out. There are survivors, in hiding and scattered across the galaxy. Would be cool if Din Djarin encounters a surviving Mando group led by Bo-Katan and helps her get the Darksaber back and start reuniting the clans.

In an interview several months ago Katee Sackhoff, who voiced Bo-Katan on Rebels and Clone Wars was asked if she was going to reprise her role on Mandalorian and she gave a "I'm not allowed talk about that" answer, not a straight denial. Obviously she didn't in the first season, but season 2 was ramping up production around that time, so...maybe?

Holy sheet, that was just an amazing finale...was so in to every second of it!
I somehow missed the entire Clone Wars series, caught all of Rebels and enjoyed it...would you guys recommend checking it out before S2 of Mando?

oh most definitely
i think they're going to lean heavily on Clone Wars - the show runners created and/or were heavily involved in The Clone Wars, and also happen to be 2/3 of the heads of Star Wars moving forward)
my guess is we'll either see a good deal of flash backs to events already seen in TCW
OR
they'll be visiting the ruins of places that were prominent in TCW - i won't say much more bc it would be spoilery for the show

Sort of an interesting theory/possible connection?

The cave on Lothal is the most intriguing part (and remember the cafe where he found Cara had a cat the same species as a Lothcat)
Ezra being one of the only Jedi not known to be dead at the time is less a theory than hopeful speculation (which I share - esp if it means Thrawn, too)

I do have to add a bit of frustration at all this ‘how could they not know about Jedi?!?)
Han in ANH makes it very clear that Jedi are more myth than anything
And then he gets to repeat that notion to Rey and Finn in TFA (sure Rey tucked away on Jacku probably wouldn’t have heard any Jedi stories) if a former storm trooper doesn’t know about Jedi, it’s fairly safe to assume that they’re not well known at all
