Cara Dune was a shock trooper for the republic, but thats prequel era and when i google shock troopers they are all imperial? (which of course was the republic) how can she have been a rebel/ new republic shock trooper on endor clean up?

She was a shock trooper for the New Republic, not the Old Republic. She isn't old enough to have been in the Old Republic days.

I'm having trouble with the Baby Yoda maturity timeline.

Yoda lived to be around 900 years old. Baby Yoda is 50. That makes him about 1/20th of old age. 1/20th of old age for a human is 5 years old. Even if you allow for a Yoda Sapiens to age slower, they still have to process information at the same rate as other species or Baby would move and react in slow motion.

He ought to be more like Baby Herman from Roger Rabbit.

Maybe puberty for his kind is super powerful. Maybe they're born super tiny/super helpless and go into hibernation/cocoon mode for a couple decades and then pop out as a Baby Yoda [tm] at about age 40 or so. Look, his chain code says he's fifty, I'm gonna call him fifty.

You have to also consider how/where Mando found him and what’s been going on since
It was not Empress Satine’s school for cute little yodalings - and the full extent of Mando’s developmental instruction is ‘hide in here’ and ‘here play with this knob from my stick shift ‘

I think there’s a whole subtext on parenting that ran through the series - 3 women showed him what parenting was and Kuiil showed him what a father is/does

I thing a major subtext of s2 will be both of them developing

There's always the possibility there is a 50 year time jump before next season and Mando will be 75. Baby Yoda will now be teen angst yoda and we can see all of their wacky adventures!

They could tell a series of stories spaced centuries apart where he was the only recurring character. That could actually be pretty cool.

After watching the finale, I wholeheartedly hope Jon Favreau takes over all of Star Wars. They did a phenomenal job with this smaller scale episodic series. The Scout Trooper scene just screamed that Favreau gets "it."

it's been reported that Favreau, Filoni and Michelle Rejwan will be the heads of Star Wars going forward (essentially they all replace Kathleen Kennedy)
more than likely they will over see tv series, animation and movies, respectively - but with a lot of interaction and interdependence
