We all know the Cowboys wanted Vaccaro. I don't need to get into that too much. Jerry Jones pretty much made it known that he was their guy and when we took him, they traded down with their pick.

But does everybody remember this? About 2 days prior to the draft, the Niners were rumored to be wanting to move up to spot 13 or 14.

Well the Jets weren't gonna let go of their 13th pick. They got a very good player in Sheldon Richardson. The Panthers DEFINITELY were not gonna pass up Star. Everybody knows that. So the Niners were really hoping we would take Jarvis Jones, because after us was Buffalo who they didn't need to worry about, but could've been a possible trade partner with them if Vaccaro was still there. They coulda traded with Buffalo to get in front of Dallas.

But the plan fell through. We took Vaccaro. Jerry Jones had a broken heart and traded down. The Niners got desperate because they need a starting safety. So they traded up and reached for Eric Reid.

All of this just makes the Vaccaro pick that much sweeter. We got the guy the Cowboys and the Niners both wanted, and it forced both of them to make bad moves in the first round. They both reached with their picks. Gotta love that.

You got a center who was rated no better than a 3rd rounder as your first round pick. And you got gipped on your trade with the 49ers. Other than that, it all went swell.

It is speculation but it is also putting 2 and 2 together. I can assure you they didn't want to move up to spot 13 or 14 to draft Eric Reid.

i'm sorry, but for as many positives jj has going for him, i'm glad the saints didn't bite. he isn't a weight room guy, has a serious medical condition, and there is just something about him that doesn't sit well. what does make me happy is that the same team who drafted him, the steelers, were high on drafting vaccaro as well. that speaks volumes.

we as fans don't see what our coach and gm do. i'd like to think that we are missing out on the numerous players that we already have whom are capable of making big plays in the 3-4.

oh, and what were the 49ers thinking? reid? as a fourth or fifth maybe. cyprien would have been a smart move. at least he doesn't have the pass coverage concerns that plague reid.

After they drafted Reid Harbaugh said how they had Reid rated higher than Vaccaro but I don't buy that for a second. The 49ers had a good draft but trading up for Reid was a curious move and I don't think it was a panic one.

So glad we passed on Jones, these past few drafts we've made a conscious effort to get bigger, stronger and faster in our front 7 and drafting Jones would have been a step in the wrong direction.

My whole point of this is basically because I hate Jim Harbaugh. I think Harbaugh has something personal against the Saints to be honest. I guess he is kinda like that with everybody really, but I hate him. And when he had the nerve to say that he thinks they got the best safety in the draft, I didn't like that too much. So I did some investigating of my own, and I remembered the Niners wanted to move in front of us.

Well after looking back at the draft now, I don't see any trade partners for the Niners anywhere in front of us. The teams that traded back didn't trade back far. I love the fact that Harbaugh was probably crying in the war room. "I want cake". Only this time it was "I want Vaccaro" God. I love it.

All speculation. Harbaugh tried recruiting Reid to Stanford when he was there, but was unable to get him. Before the draft Harbaugh told him that he won't have a choice this time, hinting that they were going to draft him.

Either way, both teams got solid upgrades in the safety position. GL this season and we'll see ya in Nola again
