The Playmaker Michael Irvin Pulled from All Super Bowl Coverage/NFL Network (09/14 EDIT: Irvin settles his defamation suit w/hotel, returns to NFLN) (2 Viewers)

I don’t see it either…it’s he said she said..
He said she said is exactly what this is. The accuser thought that can fly without video footage and because of Irvin’s past, which seems to be the root of why he was accused after that interaction. If it was any other person, it would be just another guy flirting with the woman. But it’s Irvin, who has $$ + a history of incidents with women, but this specific interaction isn’t sexual assault on footage.

At best, he grabs her arm while they’re both laughing and he’s looking down. Violating personal space but that’s not sexual misconduct or assault. That’s ridiculous when they’re joking around together in a mutual conversation.

Heh, you seem awfully defensive for someone with no stake in this. Besides, the very first thing I said was that I watched the video a few times.

I find the video pretty telling even without audio based on their behavior and posturing towards each other. One is very obviously being forward and more aggressive while the other is backing away and keeping her distance. It has nothing to do with some pre-conceived notion about Irvin.
I'm not suggesting Irvin is guilty of sexual assault (even though he technically did put his hands on her). I'm simply saying that it may be less about the woman claiming that and more about the hotel claiming that. There's a big difference there.
I'm sorry but this is a terrible take. Borderline disgusting, honestly. You can believe whatever you want, but all evidence points to her being a liar and the hotel supporting knowing full well that it was all on video. That much being entirely objective. The worst part about this is that, if this wasn't Irvin or some other celebrity, this straight up destroys a guy's life. He doesn't have millions to fall back on, nobody's going to hire him, everyone who knows him is going to look at him differently. But hey, believe all women at all costs, right?

Touching someone can barely be considered assault in a legal setting. If someone tried to present this as sexual assault in a courtroom? They'd be laughed out of there, if it even made it that far. He put his hand on her arm once, and gave a (possible) unecessary stare at her rear at the end. Could you argue that she was uncomfortable? Sure, plenty reasonable. But making someone uncomfortable isn't illegal (yet, at least.). He never once stopped her from leaving or moving. She could've walked away whenever she wanted. The video and witnesses prove that much. Maybe she didn't want to be unprofessional? Who knows. The fact of the matter was that nothing was sexual about that conversation. Maybe the touching her arm part was a little far, but again, not illegal. There was no aggression being shown from either party. At worst, this is just making someone uncomfortable. It's awkward, sure, but when did a guy shooting his shot become assault in any meaningful fashion?

Then you passive-aggressively look down on someone who may or may not have a stake in it. But they might have a son or a brother who could or maybe even has ended up in a situation like this. Not a good look.

I find him an extremely aggressive, arrogant, toxic male just watching him on TV. Multiple that under the influence of mind altering substances while standing next to me in a hotel lobby. Would I have filed charges based on what is seen? No. Would I try and go out of my way not to be near him again while staying at the hotel? Yes.

Also it's clear she was approaching him as though she had recognized the famous Michael Irvin.

ETA: OH, sorry, I meant NOT approaching him as though she had recognized him.

Guys should probably just avoid trying to have sex with women they just met.

So basically, men are not allowed to "holla" at women they find attractive anymore without fear of being charged with misconduct/assault?

What a world.
They probably never should have been doing that.

Can someone explain this to me, in todays world you can sexually assault someone without any physical contact whatsoever ? or am I missing something?..

But what if the same guy was “young and hot”. Then I guess it’s ok Right? It’s toxic because hes old and past his prime. Nothing specific towards the poster, just saying in general, this Is a slippery slope and should be avoided.

????? If I would never ask my wife for her number she would have never have been my wife.
Asking for her number, is considered "holla" ing?

But you probably shouldn't even be asking women for their number while they are at work like the woman Irvin was interacting with was.

I'm not a big fan of The Playmaker but I don't see anything wrong in this video. Looks like a drunk dude shooting his shot and getting shut down. It should be a familiar scene to most everyone because at one point this was very common. Men used to openly hit on women. Sometimes the guy got shut down. Sometimes it led to a brief fling. Sometimes it led to a 50 year marriage.

What is the appropriate way for a man to express interest in a woman now? If an attractive man makes an advance and the woman welcomes the advance then that's okay and totally normal. But if the dude is ugly and the woman isn't into it then he's a creep and it's super inappropriate. Being a single man must be a mine field. I can't even imagine. Glad I'm married. I guess the only appropriate way to meet someone is through a dating app now.

Exactly.

Somewhere along the way as a society, we seem to have lost any sense of demarcation between criminal behavior, civilly liable behavior, and boorish behavior.

All are wrong. All are not equally wrong.

I don't think men should be trying to hook up with women they don't know in normal situations.

Sure, maybe 1 out of 10 are down for it, but the other 9 women shouldn't have to put up with being hit on by random strangers, when they aren't in a situation that suggests they are out looking to be hit on. Especially if they are at work and required to be nice to customers.

Out at the club, fine. Almost anywhere else, you shouldn't be hitting on women at all.

Well, I'm trying to put myself in her position as a woman alone out in public as much as I can. He appeared to be looming and unsteady. My guard would have been up immediately I believe.
