The Playmaker Michael Irvin Pulled from All Super Bowl Coverage/NFL Network (09/14 EDIT: Irvin settles his defamation suit w/hotel, returns to NFLN) (1 Viewer)

I've watched the footage a few times now. For starters, Irvin is clearly drunk but aside from that, I'd say the video shows him flirting with her and rather obviously at that.

As for her, I see several signs of her attempting to shut him down. She steps back and away from him more than once (0:15 and 0:39 marks). She doesn't appear to reciprocate in any way when he reaches for her arms at the 1:18 mark before taking yet another step away from him. The most telling signs occur at 1:23 and again at 1:28 where she seems to wave her hands across each other in a "no" gesture while he's falling over himself laughing. He also clearly steps towards her again at the 1:33 mark before they shake hands and wind the conversation down.

My guess, based on the video footage, is that Irvin was the aggressor here and she denied him. No idea what was said obviously but her demeanor was both professional and courteous in what was certainly an uncomfortable situation. Having said that, I would not have expected Marriot to pursue charges based on how the two left it but I guess they might have no choice.

As for Irvin's lawsuit, that one is easy. His pride and ego were hurt by some woman denying his advances, further exacerbated by the Marriot pursuing action, and he felt he had no choice but to counter with some absurd amount in an attempt to steamroll (which is pretty silly when you remember it's a corporate conglomerate in The Marriot).

Judgement for the woman in this case.

That’s an extremely biased view to assume Irvin is aggressively flirting with the woman without any audio of the conversation. You can only come to that conclusion if you already had a predetermined predatory perception of Irvin and agreeing with accusations before even watching the footage. They’re clearly standing apart from each other throughout the entire time they’re talking, while she’s standing in front of him the whole time, then having a joking conversation laughing together when Irvin leans towards her once.

It’s sad that many, including NFL Network, automatically assumed he was guilty in court of public opinion based on his past but there was never evidence to support the accusations. Marriott was reluctant to release the video footage to the judge and witnesses testimony supported Irvin’s account of what happened. He deserves every penny in his lawsuit against the Marriott and accuser

It would have been less believable if it weren't for his past. Can't really blame the court of public opinion for that.

So basically, men are not allowed to "holla" at women they find attractive anymore without fear of being charged with misconduct/assault?

What a world.

I just can't get down with the idea that just because a woman rejects a man's advances, it automatically means he assaulted her by trying to woo her.

I don't care if Irvin told the woman, "I think you're so hot and I'd love to take you upstairs and (bang) you"...that ain't assault. Inappropriate as hell, but not assault.

Heh, you seem awfully defensive for someone with no stake in this. Besides, the very first thing I said was that I watched the video a few times.

I find the video pretty telling even without audio based on their behavior and posturing towards each other. One is very obviously being forward and more aggressive while the other is backing away and keeping her distance. It has nothing to do with some pre-conceived notion about Irvin.

Good for Michael Irvin, I hope he wins and they have to pay him a ton, NFL Network & Marriott

They treated him so bad and made it seem like he raped that lady in the hotel lobby.

Also, if my memory is good I think he's always been on the Saints' side of debates and is a big Drew Brees fan

I'm not suggesting Irvin is guilty of sexual assault (even though he technically did put his hands on her). I'm simply saying that it may be less about the woman claiming that and more about the hotel claiming that. There's a big difference there.

You seem awfully biased for someone that watched the video a few times. If you’re looking for something with a certain perception or angle, all you’re looking for or can see is anything that agrees with that point of view.

The video footage only shows a mutual conversation between two people who has each other’s attention and eventually laugh together. There’s nothing in the video that implies a strong accusation of sexual assault. I don’t see where he’s grabbing onto her in a sexual way, leaning into her sexually or forcing her to stand in front of him against her will. She’s willingly standing there having a conversation with him the entire time.

Ok…watched the footage. I see a drunk guy getting shot down by a lady. I didn’t see sexual assault in any way on this video. He didn’t violently grab her, shake her or try to drag her to his room. NONE. There’s no sound so it’s he said she said….case should be thrown out. Irvin should sue the NFL for canceling him. This kinda behavior has gone too far, honestly. I’m not saying I like Irvin or agree with all he’s done over the years. But in this instance he is correct.

No wonder men are staying single. You have the chance of being ruined by a spiteful woman. Thank god I’m married..

I don’t see it either…it’s he said she said..

Your own words pal.

It's the Internet. Let's just agree to disagree. Besides, I don't care enough about it to continue the discussion. Moving on.

So now we're saying people can't pat each other on the arm anymore during conversations without fear of catching a charge? It's not like he put his hand on her and started forcibly rubbing her down or grabbing her butt. It was just a friendly banter tap during a brief chat in which both people are laughing. Come on man.

What is this world we live in?
