widge, coach doesnt wear that hat during the game.

Yeah, I know and I was really just joking. But, honestly what does it matter what someone wears to a game? Sure, although I am an LSU fan and I wouldn't wear LSU stuff to the game, I don't really see the big deal. Much like Coach can be the head coach of the Saints and wear an LSU hat, a person can go to the game, cheer for the Saints a wear LSU stuff. It's seems like an odd decision to me, but you can be a fan of both and maybe those people were just feeling their LSU pride after a big win against Arkansas. I guess I just don't see the big deal.

I mean, honestly, an argument could be made that Optimus Prime and Master Chief have nothing to do with the Saints so you shouldn't wear those costumes to games even if they are black and gold. You should wear a costume more closely related to the Saints and not some pop culture icon. I disagree with that because I think you can wear what you want and be a fan in any way that you want, but it's the same concept.

normally it doesnt bother me at all. i got fired up because some dickweed LSU fan was arguing with twenny on FB about how LSU is soooo much better than the saints, and it got me thinking about the handful of other dickweeds who chant LSU as we leave the dome after a loss, and the tracksuit guy i mentioned before.

im a fan of both teams, but i dont do that sort of thing when im watching LSU.

as far as my costumes go, that is a solid argument on the surface. the reason i wore Optimus was to signify the transformation from pre-katrina losers to a real elite organization. it was just a hope and dream that first time, but it turned out to be true. the master chief suit was a play on words with the Halo title and religious iconography (and im making sure the Flood doesnt come back, :hihi: ), and coincidentally Halo3 came out the same night we had a MNF game in 2007.

i saw two LSU fans monday night wearing their purple and yellow ape suits with saints jerseys over them. ape suits dont have much to do with the Tigers, but its team colors so its all good (at an LSU game, not saints) theres a purple and gold spiderman, hes cool too.

i think it wouldnt bother me as much if they were loud on D, quiet for our O, and respectful of the team they are there to see. but they usually arent. i'm stereotyping a bit here, but most of the people ive met that sport purple gear at a saints game are the ones who are casual fans, dont really care about whats happening on the field, and are quick to call them Aints when things go sour.

you should sit in the terrace with the real Saints fans :17:

Oh please. Let's not feign ignorance to make a point here, widge.

You know damn well what those tiger baiters are doing when they wear their lsu regalia to a saints game. If you don't, then you're a sucker who doesn't know much. But I don't believe that. There's no way someone of average intelligence (which you surpass, purportedly) who lives in this area doesn't know exactly what the tiger baiter is up to.

Everyone at the saints games wears black and gold these days. It wasn't always like that. But it is now. There is social pressure to do so. It's part of the process. If you're at the game, it's reasonable to assume you wish to be part of the experience, and part of the experience is wearing saints garb.

Wearing an lsu hat isn't a random, nonchalant act. It's an act with purpose. And the purpose is to declare a specific loyalty. While the wearer may be a Saints fan, he is making a clear distinction that he is more tiger fan than Saints fan.

He's purposely going against the flow, and he's doing it to make a point. These are the same people who would say "at least we have lsu" and start tiger baiting chants during Saints games in the Ditka years.

The robot is right on point here. He knows what's going on. His robot instincts serve him well.

If I had more time, I'd have seriously pwnt this. But I'm busy so you only get half hearted mongoosian ramblings. Sorry.

A grown man wearing a big purple jacket anywhere besides an LSU or Vikings game is ultra faggy.

Also, I saw almost no purple and gold for the home opener when LSU was just 2 or 3 and 0. Status quo for the worst fanbase in sports.

i guess i am a casual LSU fan....i have friends and family that graduated from there but that's about it

if LSU loses, i really don't get  about it....

but i agree with frogboy, the :realLSUfans: are terrible for the most part

Well, that's a different story. You won't find me defending the average LSU fan as being high class, intelligent or knowledgeable about football.

You have to remember that Monday Night games often times have a different group that doesn't know the protocols. I mean, I know when I was a kid most people did not wear black and gold to games and nobody wore a jersey. Wearing team colors and jerseys is a fairly recent phenomenon. Heck even when I went to LSU games as a kid, most people weren't wearing purple.

But, in the end, I just don't care what other people choose to wear to a game. Are most of the people who show up to a Saints' game in LSU probably idiots? Sure, they are, but I really just don't care if they choose to wear it or not. And, some of them, like Sean Payton, may have been wearing it to show support for a team that just finished 12-0 after playing a really tough schedule.

But, again, in the end, I just don't really care what other people wear to a game. Now, the guys chanting "LSU" or " At least we have LSU" are a different story.
