These guys aren't jumping up and down team draft boards because they don't exist yet. It's just that the media draft gurus are frequently way off on their evaluations.
Which of course could mean that he is way overvalued in mock draft or way undervalued in mock drafts. They could even have it right.
But, I will say that QBs have a history of shooting up even the real NFL team draft boards simply because of the importance of the QB position. I don't know if Dart deserves to go high. I didn't see it in college, but it's hard to really know what he could do in a NFL offense since Kiffin's offense is very much so not an NFL style offense.
And then there is the fact that the success of all of these young QBs with good enough athletic skills is dependent on how smart they are and what kind of work they will put in at the NFL level. There is really no way fans can know that and even teams are more or less guessing. Although they do at least talk to these guys, their coaches, their families, and friends. So they have a better idea, but they miss all the time on that too.
Mike Green is likely top 20. I wouldn’t be mad if we picked him. I would be surprised. He doesn’t fit the Saints lame prototype but he will be good.Mike Green made him some money this week at senior bowl practices.
If we swapped to a 3-4 I could see him or Pearce possibly being the pick.Mike Green is likely top 20. I wouldn’t be mad if we picked him. I would be surprised. He doesn’t fit the Saints lame prototype but he will be good.
skateboo please.RB is quite deep too.
Sometimes that may be the case, but even the likes of Mel Kiper (I know he oftentimes is ridiculed but he has much more access to stuff than any of us) had him outside of his top 10 QBs early in the 2024 season. He had him 9th in October and has moved up more and more. I believe he is up to 3rd or 4th on his board of QB's.These guys aren't jumping up and down team draft boards because they don't exist yet. Only a few of these guys are projected in the top 10 but there are probably 20 potential starters to come out this year. I keep finding new guys or visit names I passed over and change my mind. Other guys could be linebackers and/or edge rushers .
I just looked at Bradyn Swinson’s tape and he looks solid athletically and with pass rush moves. (I don’t watch LSU games bc i don’t get college games in Japan)
I glossed over Mike Green initially bc I’m sick of the Saints drafting small school guys, but he is the most polished pass rusher in this class. His only fault is he lacks long arms.
We could really wait until the third round to draft a decent edge rusher.
My hope for this draft is to get one of 4 players at pick 9 or trade down. AND I hope the FO and Moore fall in love with JaXson Dart and pick him wherever necessary. If that means trading up in the second or bottom of first then I’m ok with that.
The other players I want are OL.
The 4 players at pick 9 in order are
1. Tetairoa McMillian or T-Mac WR AZ
2. Mason Graham DI Michigan
3. Tyler Warren TE Penn State
4. Walter Nolen DI Ole Miss
“Projections” say that Warren or Nolen would be a reach at 9 but their talent is undeniable and they could be huge difference makers.
Walter Nolen and Warren are likely to be available at 9 but if the staff aren’t as high on these guys i hope we trade down. My fear is that they pick an edge rusher like Mykel Williams who wasn’t very productive. A guy like him could turn out ok but like
I said there’s vslue at edge rusher into the 3rd-4th round.
Is JaXson Dart worth a first or high second? He can make all the throws and he fits Kellen Moore’s offense that incorporates RPOs and misdirection plays. And he has enough athleticism to make plays with his feet. He needs to work on his footwork (it’s not horrible) but most college QBs do. But he has poise and can make reads plus all the throws necessary. He doesn’t have a rocket arm but can make all the throws.
He also needs to work on taking snaps from under center but we could go with pistol and shotgun runs.
Yeah I looked at PFF think I wrote down 18 players worth drafting in the top 100 are edge players.Only a few of these guys are projected in the top 10 but there are probably 20 potential starters to come out this year.
