Titan fans NOT happy about the no call on the forced fumble (1 Viewer)

Hit was clean by the letter of the law — but that is flagged in 2019 about 9 times out of 10. So I can see why they were angered.

Think about the hit we got flagged for against the Niners late and compare it to the hit yesterday? Which would you have flagged and which would you have let go?

The hit yesterday was 10x more violent “in appearance” — but I’m glad they held the flag and didn’t blow the whistle on the recovery.

They could have just as easily called it incomplete.

Im gonna take a different approach and give props to Boger and his crew for getting this one right.

As mentioned, he was no longer a defenseless player. And, as mentioned, that play is incorrectly flagged quite often.

I wasn’t happy with the phantom holding calls yesterday. Or the missed PI on Cook. But this was the right no-call and props to the officials for not overreacting to the vicious nature of the hit and letting it play out.

Horse Collar, Hands to the Face and phantom Pass Interference against Lat... You have anything else Titans fans? Game was fairly evenly officiated.....for a Saints game. We expect to get hosed more often than the other team, this game just wasn't as bad as normal. You were up 14-0....how about you just play better.

Not going to be popular with this opinion but we would be too. I have seen too many thread about refs and inconsistent calls and we got away with one honestly. I am so surprise they didn't call that one. Base on my understanding, he may have hit him with his shoulder but any contact to the other player's head or neck will always, regardless if you lead with your shoulder or not, will draw a flag. That should of been a flag. Down vote it if you want but you know if it was the other way around, you guys would be furious too.
Yo man, the Nashville nuthuggers forum is that a way......----:run:

Omg some of you are crazy. That was a clean hit. WE GOT AWAY WITH NOTHING ILLEGAL. Stop being soft that was a clean hit.

Anymore stupidity comment? Please bring it.
Dude it was a clean hit but you just have to come in here and set everyone straight, right? Get outta here man. We could have got screwed and got a flag would you be happier?

This is what it's come to now, we should be happy we don't get the flag even when we do not deserve it.....pathetic.

It is a forum and an opinion. If you don't like or agree with it, state yours own. But don't come at me with that BS insults you post earlier to me. And according to your avatar, you are living in "nuthuggers" central. So you know your way around, I bet.

If you listen to the SI MMQB podcast they spent our whole recap talking about the hit fumble being unfair. The lady host went so far as to propose a rule change stating when you are hit that hard and fumble that you should be declared down....I have a feeling our grandkids NFL might just be a madden game so everyone stays safe.

Ex ref Gene Steratore said that the question is if this was a defenseless receiver and he said it was borderline but that he believed it should have a defenseless receiver call and flag on the play. But he was nowhere close to all these people in the media up in arms.

He says he is a proponent of allowing replay of defenseless receiver hit to the head/neck area type plays.

Show me where in my words I wasn't happy about the call. Everyone is debating on whether it is a flag or not, Everyone has their own different opinions from me and I have no problem with any of it but you the one coming at me with the insults. Do I seem unhappy the call went our way for a change? You don't know how I feel so don't come at me with that crap.

And I never once said it wasn't a clean hit. It so happen it was a shoulder hit that "unintentionally" hit his head and neck area. Regardless that could of drawn a flag easily. We were lucky. And if you said that shouldn't be a flag, then the flag shouldn't have been thrown in the 49ers game when Cook got hit scoring a touchdown, right. You can't have it both ways. Either it is a penalty or not.

Good info. Streratore is wrong.

Sharpe took two steps and ducked his head. That’s a football move and a “defensive” move which, by definition, means you’re no longer defenseless.

And that play was reviewed. All turnovers are reviewed. If it had been ruled an incompletion, then you would’ve had an argument for the defenseless player. But, by rule, a fumbling player is not defenseless.

I thought they would throw a flag and glad they didn't; however, he lead with shoulder and the receiver put his head down. Therefore, it was a legal hit and there was nothing CJGJ could have done differently. This is football and injuries happen. If we throw PI for something that is unavoidable, then we might want to just get rid of the whole NFL.

I do understand the view from the other side; however, we have to be able to see the truth at the end. Who Dat!
Right there is another debate. Gardner Johnson did nothing wrong in that play. He hit with his shoulder and the receiver did ducked his head down. I have seen so many personal foul call where the offensive players was the one who caused a lot of the head collision and it is always the defensive guy fault.

You’re correct in that it is often called.

It’s just often called incorrectly.

We were fortunate that the official made the right call here.
