Top 10 college football teams of the decade (1 Viewer)

BTW - I believe Tebow got screwed last year by the Jordan effect (don't want to give it to the same guy twice), and Colt got screwed by not being in the title game. It should have come down to McCoy and Tebow... pick your winner.

Agreed there also.. Thats the game i wanted to see, and definitely the true top two teams in the country. I couldnt choose a Heisman between Colt and Tebow based on last year.. :idunno:

I wont argue against that.. Thats why i said its a tough comparison.. But if you say Tebow isnt comparable to VY as far as being clutch, then id say rewatch some games ha.

Tebow is pretty clutch, but VY was just automatic in game winning situations. It's not saying Tebow isn't good in crunch time, but VY was pretty much transcendental in those situations. If you're down 6 with 1:30 left on the clock, starting from your own 20, who do you want - VY or Tebow? Be honest.

Ill use the same argument i use everytime i hear this.. Seems to be the only argument against Tebows playing so i hear it repeatedly. If you were Urban Meyer and had a 240 lb QB that runs like a FB, and 175 RB that is a speed and moves guy, who would you send up the gut to gain 1 yd?? He does what works and everyone wants to call it "stat padding". Meyer does what it takes to win. Hence two NC rings in the past three years.

Valid point. I'd still argue that Meyer uses Tebow to run more than just about any other coach has in the past. I'd be curious to compare Tebow's goalline opportunities to Culpepper, McNabb, Young, Matt Jones, etc. I'm too lazy to do it right now, but I'd bet you a million dollars that Tebow had at least double the carries from within the 5 than those guys averaged out. Not saying it's not the right move for Meyer (both for prestige and because they don't have a hammer RB), but the stats are still inflated. If Tebow was on 90% of other teams in the country, his rushing TDs would be much less.

Ill agree with all that.. Hard to compare a 05 Texas team to an 08 Florida team but yeah if you go back and re vote after that game, VY would have got it... BUT, the Heisman is based on the whole year, not just one game, even if its the NC.

Right. And VY was leading the Heisman race comfortably until Bush had a big national televised game against Fresno State while VY played in an un-televised game against a terrible Texas A&M team that I believe finished with 5 wins. It was a "what have you done for me now". But as a body of work, VY's season was superior to Reggie's.

Anyway ,you have valid points, and we're nitpicking at this point. Both are great players. I don't think Tebow is as transcendant is VY was, but opinions are like you know what...

Thats true.. Its just a tough comparison and mainly opinions and speculation.. Valid arguments from both sides, basically comes down to our opinion.. Like i said, i wasnt defending either one as im neither a Texas or Florida fan but i like both teams when they arent playing my team.. I just like discussing and debating CFB.

That's why I tend to think McCoy and Tebow are neck and neck for this years race. I think McCoy may get a lot of consideration just because Bradford and Tebow have a Heisman (and just because he damn good of course). Voters are always so picky to preserve "traditions" that it often skews the vote I believe. But, I guess you never know until the season plays out. Anything can happen.

I freely admit that this could be the homer in me, but I don't think Bradford is going to be as succesful this year as he was last year. He lost almost his entire OLine, his stud TE and his stud WR.

Let's hope that's not just wishful thinking :hihi:

bogus poll...... more what if's than there are facts too base that poll on.....

When I find the time, I will go back through the schedules I posted and highlight the ranked teams. That should clear things up a bit.

Tebow put up 700 less yards of total offense his junior year than Young did. Tebow has 800 less yards of total offense through his first three years, despite starting four more full games than VY did.

Tebow has 6 losses through three years. Vince had 4 losses in three years.

But, Tebow can baptize babies simply by urinating on them, and Vince couldn't, so I guess there's no argument here.

Conference pride... :smilielol:

Conference pride has nothing to do with it. Considering your arguments I could see VY being just as great. I guess I've seen more of Tebow, his recruitment and my team playing against him twice, than I have of VY. As long as Tebow stays healthy this year, he will definitely surpass Vince Young.

UT and USC didnt play a SEC team..... until there is a playoff, there will always be what ifs..... Auburn won there games on defense and UT-USC won on offense......since scoring is more exciting USC won a National title outright with no CO in front of there title......

Big 12 simply can't match up with the SEC, team wise, schedule wise. When will you ever just accept that?

Tim Tebow blows. Most overrated player in NCAA history.

Most ignorant post on the college board this year IMO.
