Trevor Penning is PFF’s top graded Saint; Penning is highest graded NFL OT in Week 10 (1 Viewer)

Yeah, based on the development we saw from guys on the o-line and the way Benton coached guys up, I'd consider that a safe position to draft. Meanwhile, were several years removed from signing Michael Thomas to an elite contract for a WR so we're due at this point. Would rather sign a FA WR next year set it up where the cap hit is minimal year one but grows after that. So long as it's a 25 year old WR and not someone in their late 20's etc.
The young FA WR market next yr is slim, pretty much Higgins , Elijah Moore. If you wanted to go 27yrs old maybe Hollywood Brown. Higgins is going to be expensive, especially since the market is slim.
If we make any kind of a FA splash signing I think pass rusher or DT would be the best place
But I agree , any FA signing we make needs to be a young up and coming player . Even if we went with a FA TE most of the ones in 25 are getting close to or past 30
We need more draft picks

I wouldn't have a problem with that. But I'm not sure what the plan is going to be for the next couple years regarding the cap and free agency. I'm also not sure what kind of offense we will end up running. Even if Rizzi stays he could decide to go another direction.
I think maybe one of Rizz's advantages is if he would at least keep all of the offensive staff. KK and the staff have shown what they CAN do with a healthy O even with the challenges that we had when healthy like weak TE, no big body WR, no back up RB and a OL that was green.
The DC could be up for grabs, but Woods has the rest of the yr as an audition

He's played very well, and he's been healthy every week. He's also always looking to engage with a defender. I love it. Saldiveri could learn from that.
Saldiveri better step it up! NOW!

And I’ve been one of his biggest fans since we drafted him too!

Hopefully, the return of McCoy playin next to him at C will help improve his play!

We’ll see!

That makes zero sense. Penning can capitalize on his strengths at RT. I'd leave him where he is and let him become one of the best.
He's showing Ramczyk levels of run-blocking with a bit more of a mean streak. His Armstead-like athleticism doesn't hurt, either. He's been demoralizing guys even going back to the first game of the season. Still gotta work a bit on pass-blocking, but that seems to be developing at a steady pace. He recovers better on those occasions a pass-rusher gets into his chest and he's even doing better against the guys who can combo moves together, which tells me he's been spending a lot of time practicing against Cam.

Penning finally playing well and yall wanna swap him back to LT? I swear...
we don't necessarily want to.. but if he is the best lineman on the team and LT is his natural position... while Fuaga's natural position is RT... next off season it would completely make sense for them to play in their natural positions. Especially given the fact that he has clearly shown he can learn and play with confidence.

If it ain't broke don't fix it?

Penning is thriving were he is now after a few years of terrible struggles, a big NO from me.....

And there aren't many guys that can play LT, less that can play it really well....unless they find an obvious absolute stud then I keep Fuaga right were he is....

When you don't hear a players name called much especially on the Oline it's usually because they aren't on the field or they're playing well.

I've seen a HUGE improvement in Penning this season so he must be doing something right.

Why would you change what's working?...............:idunno:

We are finding out that we hastily moved Penning to Right tackle. He is a Stud. He is showing us he is the next great Saints Tackle. You want your Stud on the left side. He can do it.

Just because someone is the best lineman doesn't mean he's the best LT. RT plays to his strengths. He played LT in college b/c he went to a small school and they needed him at LT and just rolled with whatever at RT.

Now, if we draft Campbell and he's the best LT then that let's us move Fuaga to G. LSU had 2 LTs and one plays RT b/c Campbell is the best in the country.

TP is already one of the better run blocking OTs in the league. Everyone on here knows my staunch defense of TP. I will go on record saying that Penning will be playing at a pro-bowl level by the end of next season if he stays healthy. If Fuaga can make some progress in pass-pro we are good at OT for quite a few yrs. All we have to do is upgrade @ LG and we could have one of the better OLs in the league. A far cry from everyone saying how OL was a weak area of the team
