Triplett says Saints Interest in Chris "Beanie" Wells is "Bona Fide" (4 Viewers)

I can see where this is going, same old saints organization.I will be very disappointed if we dont draft defense in the first round.Has this team learnt nothing from its history? I like Benie Wells but its not what is going to get us into the playoffs.People think because we signed some free agents that we are set. This is the NFL and we will have injuries in the secondary, and then we are screwed once again to witness the dissection of our defense every game.

I understand your point of view but the Saints are at the 14th pick and they will get BPA or trade down if they don't get screwed . Every team gets screwed with injuries and that's just sports in general . Now I do wish the Saints could take a page out of the New England Patriots when it comes down to the draft this year and maybe they did with the addition of GW .

I think being at 14 is gonna put us in good shape for a trade down. Teams don't want to trade up too far and have to give up too much so i see us being spot on for a trade down. Trouble is I see us facing a really good player and not being able to pass him up.

Now as far as Wells being the BPA i can't see it even if he's there.

Like always, making this a Reggie vs. PT thing when no one was talking about Reggie. Reggie will continue to get his carries regardless of how well he is doing because it helps to facilitate what he does best, which is catch and run. Of course PT's average per reception will be more than Reggie because he catches a lot less and is less involved in the pass game. Same reason why Lance Moore's average per catch is less than Henderson's.

In any event, we were talking about how PT is really not as effective as a lot of PT fanatics want to think he is, and his stats against the best defenses reflects that.

the issue isnt PT vs Bush, it is that you make up "paytons" logic as you go.

Wells can juke defenders, jump over them, run them over and has one of the most powerful stiff arms I have ever seen. He's the total package and a much better prospest than PT.

You're the one that has a problem with the way Payton uses PT, since you and a few others seem incredulous to the possiblity that Payton may not be completely satisfied with PT's performance. I'm just trying to give you some possible mindsets that Payton may have. Who knows for sure what Payton is thinking, but I don't think it can be disputed that he's not happy with what we have at runningback as of right now.

Be sure to send a memo to Coach Payton and Mickey Loomis. :9:

Don't bother arguing, some people have their mind made up already. Like when its time to close a game, it what be nice to have Beanie if he is the (bpa). We were number 1 in offense mainly because we threw the ball more than anyone. Maybe Payton didnt have the faith in our backs to run the ball more. I'm just saying. I'm not a coach or scout its jmo. I will let payton and loomis do whats best for the team

When somebody shows me that Chris Wells is the ONLY halfback in the draft that weighs over 230 (since size is an absolute, direct relation to running style - which even ignores actual film of his running style, which has been miscast often), then I'll trip over my own feet and go gaga about the guy.

I'm sure our backs could run all day long if they had some place to run. Maybe we should be looking at the best road graders available. Just a lil shift from PT, BW and RB.

For some strange reason, I think with Nicks going into his second year, that left side might do pretty well

Actually, Rashad Jennings is probably the only other RB that will be drafted, that is over 230lb. (barely, he's 231 lb.). The next heaviest RB is Shonn Greene at 227 lb.

Wells is a solid 235 lb.

Good job missing the point

Here it is again, since you obviously only saw numbers:

Size alone does not determine a back's running style
