Tropical Storm remnants expected to hit SoCal Sunday (Update: Game will go as scheduled) (1 Viewer)

When it rains like this in Southern California, especially when we haven’t had rain in a long time, the flooding on the streets and hills and landslides on the mountains around So Cal become incredibly deadly with much less rain. Now imagine the highways and how they will be before and after the game.

I think and hope that the game is a ghost town tonight. I’m just thinking of everyone’s safety.

I was born and raised in Southern Miss so I understand the confusion and have seen the difference between the two during bad storms.
People from New Orleans will never know our struggle #TheRainySeason

Of course not. I am however saying that the media is hyping it up as if a category 4 hurricane hitting California is akin to a storm hitting a state below sea level, like a cat 4 is going to hover over it for hours/days before falling apart, when in reality, a storm out that way will start falling apart BEFORE it even hits the land because of the water temps. Then when it starts hitting that 14-15k altitude, it will shred apart and be nothing but a bad thunderstorm by the time it hits L.A.

Yes, I acknowledge there will be bad conditions on the road, possible flooding, but again, we have seen worse game conditions and the show still goes on in severe weather, even when played in OUTSIDE venues, regardless of what’s happening in the surrounding areas.

As I said before, I will trust the team officials, league officials, not to mention city officials who haven’t even shut down schools out there for tomorrow as of yet.
You trust league officials????

Player safety? Ok.

Yes, believe it or not, they aren’t going to allow their multi-million dollar assets to get ripped apart by a hurricane/tornadoes to play a football game if it’s truly a threat to their well-being.

I guess the city/county that’s allowing this game to happen with no evacuation orders and the like are also in on this conspiracy to make sure tickets don’t get refunded?

Yes because the Superdome has never leaked water during a rainstorm. 😂

Comedy hour here.
I know it did for Katrina, a Cat 5 hurricane.

But... this is a preseason game with players, staff, stadium employees and fans about to be in there for hours in the middle of a storm... Which is just ABSURD!
Which btw, SOFI is supposed to be a billion-dollar, brand new, state of the art stadium and it is leaking!

It has leaked during run of the mill every day storms too. Are you seriously introducing a Katrina level event to this game being played scenario? 😂

Tell me this, is it leaking because it’s raining, or is it leaking and people are freaking out because it’s raining in an event called a “hurricane?” In other words, are there hurricane conditions outside there right now, or is it simply raining?

And no, they are not sitting near the eye of a category 4 storm right now, the way it’s being made to sound. It’s simply raining out there.

We have had players PLAYING in the rain during storms before, with no roof.

This the first time in over 80 years that area has gotten a storm. There are streets flooding already. There are also high winds and the risk of devastating flash flooding and mudslides, both highly possible. I am just saying that the safety of everyone involved is way more important than this preseason game.

I will say this, I hope everyone out there is safe. Flooding is likely in some areas. I just personally feel like too much is being made of this “California is getting hit by a hurricane” narrative and it’s putting way more fear in the public than is warranted.

It’s a hurricane in title only, because of what the terrain there will quickly do to said “hurricane.”

For L.A., they’re set to experience a severe thunderstorm which will bring consequences, but not “shut down the whole region and all events and you’re dumb if you don’t” type consequences.

And it’s equally not a good look for posters watching sensationalized news about a subject they’re not familiar with calling the NFL and teams dumb for playing a game despite all the real data they’re privy to, and again, data city officials out there are privy to and still have kids going to school in the morning.

Again, if you feel it isn’t safe, don’t go. But this junk criticizing the league for playing the game needs to stop. They’ve seen and played in much worse.
I've been living in Los Angeles since 1996. How long have you lived in Los Angeles, or anywhere with Mountains for that matter?

You don't know what you are talking about, but you don't let that give you a moments pause. Quick question, what are the main travel corridors that people will use to get to Sofi stadium? What do you know about them topographically? What do you know about the drainage capacity of those corridors?

The NFL should have moved or cancelled the game out of reasonable caution, just like other major league sports have done in the past couple of days.

And it’s been deemed safe by people within the league and the state/county governments that know far more about what’s being faced than you or I know.

Okay…so StudioSaint from Saintsreport knows more than the county officials, state officials, League officials, stadium officials, and individual team officials along with those entities’ own weather sources who are all deciding to allow the game to be played after carefully studying the situation…got it.
