N/S Tyreek Hill arrested for traffic violation by stadium in Miami on gameday (Hill played) [Reckless driving & seatbelt charges dismissed] (3 Viewers)

Why was the post you quoted garbage?
Because it makes everything about race. You know what happened to me, a white guy, one time in my late teens? A cop gave me an order. I mouthed off and disobeyed. I got slammed on a car and cuffed and taken to jail.

Disobey the cops and you get what you get. It's not always about race. I'm also sick of criminals being martyred. I fully believe race played no role in this and any other person who was an arse like Tyreek was would get the same treatment.

Just follow simple commands.

Hill is an idiot and will be arrested again at some point. Guaranteed. Probably beat some woman again.

I think that's more because of the window thing. The cop gave him zero opportunity to get out of the car though. That was really when they needlessly escalated it. There really wasn't any reason or need for Hill to get out of the car.
The tone had already been set by then. Cop walks up to your car after pulling you over for driving recklessly the window should be down. To not do that is setting a tone and then to smart mouth about knocking on the window (that should've already been down) is escalation of that tone. The fact he said in the press conference "what if I wasn't Tyreek hill" tells me a lot about his personality. Feel bad for the cops that have to go through this stuff over a smart mouth entitled millionaire.

oh FFS there is nothing to feel bad about the cops for. They chose this line of work, mostly because they tend to enjoy acting like they know everything.

Cop pulled him over for "speeding" when he hadn't even clocked him. In other words he guessed how fast he was going to pull him over for that. This whole incident happened because a cop decided to guess someone's speed then pull them over.

I disagree, but i get why you'd think that.

Do you think that should happen to people that moth off? I don't. It shouldn't have happened to you and it shouldn't have happened to a lot of people, some who were shot and killed because the cops escelated because they didn't like someone mouthing off.

No one is saying it's always about race, but unquestionably some get it worse than others. The stats are pretty clear cut in that respect
I'm also sick of criminals being martyred.
How is Hill being martyred here? Just about everyone here says he could have handled it better, heck, even Hill says he could have handled it better.
I fully believe race played no role in this and any other person who was an arse like Tyreek was would get the same treatment.
Then why were his 2 teammates detained when they literally were trying to calm things down? I don't know what's in cop's heads, but that's no way to handle this situation. Screw that nonsense.
Just follow simple commands.
Even if it's not legal? And what if two different cops are telling you 2 opposite things? What then?
Hill is an idiot and will be arrested again at some point. Guaranteed. Probably beat some woman again.
I'm not denying Hill has acted like an idiot in the past. The fact is, most people have done stupid sheet at times in their life. You like people holding your past over your head? I don't.

now do the one where you, a white guy, obeyed and still got assaulted by the police

Disobey the cops and you get what you get. It's not always about race.
you and I, white guys, have little to no perspective to determine if something is/isn't always about race

you probably shouldn't tell us what is/isn't sexism either

Not having the window down when the cop rolls up on you is setting the tone? That's news to me.
To not do that is setting a tone and then to smart mouth about knocking on the window (that should've already been down) is escalation of that tone.
Uh, nah, if the cop can't handle someone telling them not to knock on the window, he shouldn't be a cop to begin with. That's not reason enough to escalate things. Thin skinned reactionary cops are the ones who end up killing someone at some point.

And I'm not saying Hill didn't contribute to this, but it's more on cops who are controlling the situation than the drivers. The cops lost control here, period. They let their emotions rule the moment.

It seems you’re trying to apply logic to a dynamic where both sides don’t know and fear what the ‘other side’ could do
Logic is not a good tool in such a fraught exchange
So what is the answer.. TH broke the law.... He was pulled over and did not comply.... Now what is the cop supposed to do... His reaction was definitely over the top. But for the sake of political correctness does he say ok sit there until YOU are ready to get out of the car or at the very least roll down your window and give my your license and registration.

How should this situation have gone down in this world of political correctness?

It's actually pretty easy, cop can ignore Hill's comments about knocking on the window, go write up the ticket, return and give him his ticket and none of us are talking about this. It's basically what most people in customer facing jobs have to do.

how is not assaulting someone for a traffic violation a 'political correctness' issue
there was no danger to the police - except perhaps to their 'authority - so why escalate - their training should be first and foremost in de-escalation

tell him he is free to go when he cooperates and go sit in the squad car and scroll saintsreport
easy peasy

Sorry but I still don't understand. YES the cop was over the top. But please help me understand what he is supposed to do. TH was speeding. He refused to cooperate. So does the cop say "ok you don't want to cooperate so you are free to go"? Seriously... what is the right way to handle someone who has broken the law.. albeit a minor transgression... that simply won't cooperate...

ok but we don't know who the driver is... WE know he is TH a major football star but the cop does not.... The cop has someone who is breaking the law... albeit a minor infraction.... who is refusing to cooperate.....

Look it is easy to say the cop over reacted... He did.... But again what is the right thing to do.... You say write a ticket and tell him to move on.... But if he is hiding behind the tinted windows as a bigger bad guy and the cop let him go with a ticket... Well now the cop is not doing his job and let a dangerous guy (an erroneous assumption TODAY but not on the spot) and now the cop is wrong AGAIN
