Yeah, there certainly more than a handful of Russian and Putin sympathizers in the US. Just visit any open and active political discussion forum and there's always someone kissing Poot's arse.
It's not just Putin's arse they've been kissing or sounding like unabashed cheerleaders for one side or the other on any open and active political discussion boards, Dave and quite a few can come across sounding quite ridiculous. The tribalism one witnesses in most of these discussions is disgusting and scary as well as the arrogance and self-righteousness.

I'll grant you that some of them are probably Russian or Putin sympathizers/bots or are envious of how effective his "hard-line" authoritian strong man act seems to be over the years and wish they had a similar type here (even though Agent Orange is too stupid, erratic, irrational, and easy to manipulate to be a "strong-man" authoritian type ala Putin or even like Victor Orban.), but their are some people who are critical of our role in Ukraine because (1) How long will we have to continue aiding Ukraine in their fight in terms of years? (2) and even if we do keep supplying Ukrainian military forces against Russian invaders, the best, most likeliest outcome from a military standpoint is another Afghanistan, an endless, bloody violent quagmire that lasts for 5-10 years and by chance, even if Russia does sue for some peace settlement or cease-fire, even if Ukraine's sovereignty or independence survives, their going to lose some territory in Dombas, and elsewhere in eastern Ukraine like Donetsk and Luhentsk due to Russian insistence on keeping some regions their currently occupying. I know that's not a popular sentiment to.express on here but its very difficult, realistically to see Russia not insisting or demanding to keep some of their occupied regions or cities they've conquered over the course of this war in eastern Ukraine under the auspices of any potential peace treaty or negotiated settlement even if Putin isn't on the Russian negotiators' side. He's perfectly at ease with losing 2-3 Ru million soldiers if it meant he could keep some territory of a country he invaded 4-5 years ago.

And lets not fool ourselves, Dave ,cold hard geopoliitics hasn't been lost in the equation, we know Russia and their overall economy will continue to bleed and bleed and if we can keep this military, WWI-styled conflict going, Putin's regime might come close to surpassing the tipping point where they begin hemoragging, if they havent showed signs of doing it already (Russians have lost close to 650,000 soldiers KIA or MIA so far, if they can be pushed into a war where they lose 2-3 million soldiers, even if they somehow negotiate a favorable cease-fire or treaty, it'll be a Pyhrric victory of sort.)

I'll leave it at that, Dave. When it comes to Internet politicized discussions in general these days, having honest, sincere discussions about hot-button socio-political issues without it turning into a shouting matches or online bullying is increasingly rare.
