@baarbogast, I know you're well versed in these events. The ousting Orban is a good thing. Is this TISZA party pretty reputable and good for the country?
Hi Soggy, I hope this isn't condescending because I don't always express myself clearly. I'm going to give a little background as to how Hungary got here.

In the early 2000's, Orban was an anti-Russia populist. He is still popular in Budapest and the rural areas, not so much with cities of 30,000 or more. Initially he introduced reforms/laws that actually were very good for the average Hungarian. This helped Fidesz grow in popularity and gradually gain control of the government.

Eventually he started changing/modifying the constitution. His popularity allowed him to change minor things. Gradually, he was able to change/interpret the constitution to his whim. One of the major changes was equal time for political advertisements.. If Fidesz got an hour then the opposition got an hour, on the surface that sounds fair. The problem is that there are 3-4 opposition parties, so each one got 15-20 minutes. He also got prime viewing/listening time while the opposition was given time at like 3AM.

TISZA started as a center/right party and was the largest of the opposition. Roughly , around the Covid pandemic the opposition decided to band together under one umbrella. Today it would be like AOC and Joe Rogan being of the same party. All the opposition has 3 of the same goals:
1) Get rid of Orban and his corruption.
2) Get rid of the Chinese police in Budapest.
3) Get back in the good graces of the Eu.

The corruption that really has most Hungarians angry is his theft of education funds. Anytime he needs money, he reduces the education budget, most people consider education the most important function of government. Do you remember about 4 years ago when teachers flooded Budapest and demanded education money be restored? Literally, he said go back to teaching or lose your job and licenses. Schools were also told that if they allowed their teachers to protest they would be closed. I can't prove it, but I think being a retired American soldier truly worked against me.

I think the EU is fining Hungary $1M/day because they are no longer following the EU and Schengen guidelines for membership. I can't remember who said it, "Hungarians are welcome to western Europe, Orban isn't".

IF TISZA gets control of the government, the only policy they may continue is the ban on Muslim/Arabic immigration. Basically outside of the BBC, most news outlets largely focus on the riots/vandalism done by them. France24, Deutsche Welle and Spanish news focus on the problems caused in their countries and Hungary wants none of that.

I hope this helps.

Really appreciate you taking the time to reply so thoroughly. That was extremely helpful.

It appears that Syria news is eclipsing Ukrainian news today.

Here's the latest song from the Ukrainian, Eileen.

Here's the latest from the Russian, Alina.

War is hell.

Skulls as hats are a bit much, but horns are OK.
