Moore seems to truly appreciate how important the OL and DL are to winning. That's why I'm optimistic. If all they improve is the OL and DL, I think that alone would likely lead to a big turn around this year.

We really need to hit on 3 or 4 guys to make that work.

Need a premier OLB, CB, LG, and maybe an Edge at BPA in those first four picks. I know it's not going to be flashy, but that offensive line needs to be solidfy for it to ascend. Switching to a 3-4... That's going to take about 2 years of building. So, I imagine that we are a bottom ranked defense this upcoming year.

So, I hope the offense is fun to watch for the most part.

Carr is far from bad, but we desperately need to find a number two, he went down for way too many games last season. DA going into last season with no backup qb was a boneheaded move.

Injuries derailed the season, that and a lack of impact players on defense.

Rattler proved capable, but he like Carr had little to no help offensively once Shaheed and Olave went down.

My concern is Carr 100% does not fit CKMs style and system, which means it wont be CKMs proper system.

I still would not be surprised if we get Pickett, and pickets is starting by week 10 due 'to injury'

You are focused on assigning blame for the past. I am not.

My statement was made with an eye toward the future and the understanding that the new coaching staff will in fact change how the front office evaluates players. I don't care who is to "blame" for the past, because the past doesn't exist anymore other than in our minds.

I don't know if the new coaching staff will change drafting for the better, the same, or the worse, but it's a fact that the player evaluations will change because of the new coaching staff and that will change their drafting.

Loomis is a master at getting this fanbase to shed him of any blame.

My opinions come from me, not Loomis. I'm not thinking or talking about "blame" at all, so I'm in no way "shedding" anyone of blame. The blame game is a very negative, useless and counterproductive waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

Some of the Carr criticism is over the top and unwarranted. Some is valid. But the fact is that he is not well liked even among most that are okay with him being the starting QB this year. In fact, I would guess that many that are fine with him starting this year would not be fine with him starting next year.

So I wonder if Moore realised this and just doesn't care or if this will come as a bit of a surprise to him?

He probably knows but doesn’t care.

Winning games is the only cure for Moore not just regarding Carr, but his tenure period.

If we win some games next year, fans won’t care anymore.

I'll give Klint and Carr credit, because they way they turned around the pass protection for Carr was night and day.

8 sacks in 10 games is pretty phenomenal while dealing with an insane amount of injuries.

They was still pressuring Carr at a 24% rate, but a lot of those were during when Eric went down..

They had something there with that scheme. Sadly, it was a house of cards.

While I agree, I think McCoy helped take a lot of the weight off Carr's shoulders. He was identifying fronts and those responsibilities were taken off Carr's plate. It's why things looked so disjointed while McCoy was out/injured.

On the flip end, I'll say that we saw a lof of those blocking schemes with TE's blocking edge rushers that failed, and miserably when it happend. It wasn't as big because Carr was getting the ball out in a timely fashion in this scheme, but the "quick game" was also something they highlighted in the off-season that they would implement to help Carr.

You have a right to your opinion, but really, Rattler nor Haener showed much of anything. I’ll be surprised if either is on the team next season. DA is gone, and with an offensive head coach, I’m hoping he brings in talent to backup Carr and maybe even someone with potential to take over in 2026 or 2027.

I believe there is a misconception. Because the word that most people don't believe they'll make the playoffs with Carr...

If you told people that you had 100% affirmation that they make the playoffs. They would be excited, but you can only sell a bait and switch for so many years till people rightfully want wholesale change. We are possibly going on our 5th season without a playoff berth.

What objective indication that they are closer to a playoff berth now vs. 4 years ago when Brees retired with a more talented team. You can only handoff the blame on injuries for so long.

It's results based business and the results have been bad with team that doesn't have a lot of young blue chip ascending talent.

I understand the mentality. I can see the Saints winning 9 or 10 games and maybe even winning the division. But it would be hard to see this team as a Super Bowl team this year. And picking in the 20s puts you further away from the top of the draft to select a QB.

But I guess that assumes that Carr won't be here next year? And if that's the case, I would have to agree that it's better to take your medicine now and move on from Carr. But, if the Saints can win 10 games this year with Carr as QB, why can't they win more next year? Why can't they win 12 games next year and be legit contenders next year or even the year after?

That would certainly be much harder to do with a rookie starting. I think they at least have to make the effort to try to win now till they show that they can't. Then if they don't have a good year this year, they can just follow what Payton did in Denver. I don't see a lot of downsides to that.

But, yeah. There are definitely some that want to tank and not make the playoffs to be able to select a QB high in the draft. But personally, I don't want to see the Saints ever picking in the top of the draft unless it's in a trade. Playoffs or not, I'll take winning more games than losing any day.

The Saints can win 10 games in a weak division. 2024 showed that while the team had adequate starting talent, they have zero depth in key positions and they have an aging roster. Once Taysom got hurt, the team lost all of its creativity in the offensive side. At this point, it seems that winning 10 games in a weak division is the ceeling, not the floor. You have to look at the makeup of the team to see that they are not in a great position to just reload for another run. I sincerely hope that Kellen Moore's intent to be somewhat competitive just revolves around the strategy to keep Carr so he has a decent QB playing in 2025, and not because he thinks (like Loomis) that the team is actually good as is.

It's good that CKM believes in Carr. He'll build an offense that capitalizes on his strengths. Since we have former QBs at QB Coach, OC and HC, we can become a QB factory. Either sign a castoff vet like Minnesota is doing or draft guys every year to develop and trade like the Patriots used to do building draft capital.
