Crazy. This is almost exactly what happened. Huge for us.It's tricky. We almost need to hope he and his agent play hardball, try to force the Browns to keep the contract as-is (or close to it), making him less attractive to all the teams on the waiver list.
If he restructures his deal, the odds of him falling all the way to us is really low. If he doesn't, he likely clears, Cleveland pays him, we sign him outright as a FA.
But Cleveland would have to agree.
Honestly, I don’t think it’s that hard lol. Matter of fact, I can a see a player easily tell the entire league don’t pick me up, let me choose where I want to go.Based on the low cost, I think his agent would have to think that most teams are potential claimants. Is he going just start calling all of the ones OBJ doesn't want to play for? I think it's a pretty silly idea.

I feel like it’s been done before
Looks like Beckham’s restructured contract only costs $1 million against the cap. Now it’s a matter of do other teams view him as a necessary addition so he can fall down the waiver order and be claimed at 23rd by the SaintsSaints do not have the cap room to claim him. They would have to hope he clears waivers.

The Browns announced Friday that they released Beckham, who must test the waiver wire like every other vested veteran across the league after the annual trade deadline passes. And his restructured contract means any team that claims him will have to count right around $1 million, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. That’s affordable for just about every team in the NFL including the cash-strapped Saints once you factor in the cost of adding him (which would push another contract off their books). New Orleans is under the cap by $1,098,472, per ESPN’s Field Yates, but that number would change by Beckham’s contract replacing a bottom-of-the-depth chart player like Montravius Adams (saving $802,778) or Jalyn Holmes ($715,556).Saints have the means, but maybe not the opportunity, to snag Odell Beckham Jr. off of waivers
The Saints are a match for Odell Beckham Jr. with enough salary cap space to add him, but they may have to wait too long in the waiver wire:saintswire.usatoday.com
Okay who? It doesn’t really matter, a waiver claim gets the player’s rights and with no risk. He doesn’t show up, fine - but he can’t go anywhere else.
Browns negotiated to help Odell Beckham Jr. become a free agent and not get claimed; only choice was to release him: Browns Insider

This article says he won’t be on claim?
By the end of the day that had changed.
If they could have signed him off waivers for the vet minimum, then absolutely. But to essentially rent him for half a season for over $7 million? I can't imagine any team wanting to do that. Maybe could happen, but idk.Oh, idk. That’s neither here or there.
My original question that you replied on was just simply would you sign a player who straight up tells you to your face “I don’t want to play for your team” that’s all
Thanks chuck.
Wait...what? Chuck isn't super? I didn't know an explanation was needed. I thought it was obvious. Thanks chuck.
Why superchuck? Just curious
NOB because it was the first city we arrived in when we moved to the U.S
