We just willingly let MIKE EVANS go into the record book versus us? (15 Viewers)

It's the Favre taking the sack for Strahan scenario.

Besides Evans had an extra game to do it.

Put an * next to his name
Except he missed what? 4 games this season? Thats a lame insult, he’s earned it year in and year out. Whether I like the guy or not, I can appreciate good play. It’s a shame more fans don’t.

I agree. They should have put 10 guys on him and if he still makes the play, then he deserves the record. But, you knew the play was coming and you still needed a TD with a 2 point conversion. GO FOR THE EFFING PICK 6. WHAT KIND OF DEFENSIVE PLAY CALL WAS THAT.

So pissed off at the Saints and how they just gave up after we didn't make the first down to keep our drive going.
I don’t want Rizzi anywhere near my team! I would’ve jumped offsides every snap instead of giving up that record. Put all 11 guys on him and leave everybody wide open for all I care. Between this and last year’s apology to the Falcons I’m convinced the Saints are bootymeat soft from ownership on down.

You get a like for boot meat soft alone…

For all the things to fuss about with this team, this is what we complain about?
I am. Mike Evans has been a punk to this team. Off the field he seems like a swell guy. But on the field he's taken MULTIPLE cheap shots at Lattimore and messed us over in the process. For that, he should always be public enemy #1 on this team. And we just casually let them run a regular play? Like Shanle said, that wouldn't have flew during the old days of this team. How I am so disappointed at how soft this team has become.

Evans is good but he's a long way from being on Rice's level.
True I agree but he’s been as solid as they come. Been an excellent receiver and the biggest thing is the consistency to that 11 years in a row. Hes had a great career despite being on rival team.

I'm as bitter about Evans trashing on the Saints as anyone. Have three guys holding him even if it means someone else scores a TD. But putting emotions aside, what about the GAME?

I thought it was a really bad message from the Bucs coaching staff to throw there instead of taking a knee to end the game. Suppose Mayfield threw a pick six and they were knocked out of the playoffs? Why risk it? I guess winning isn’t everything.

We absolutely did. They were only running a play to get him a 5 yard catch, and we just come out and act like it's a normal play. Put 3 guys on him. Put 11 guys on him. It's just sad and soft.
A few million people all knew what was coming. They even took a time out. We let him have that record.

I think it was less about "letting him get the record" and more about "we're not going to stop a guy from getting 3 million dollars from the owner/league".

It's on brand for the Saints.

They are terrible, don't care, had their bags packed and some may be on the Bucs next year. Don't want to make potential new landing spots mad.

I was p****d at first but then at the end of the day, who cares? Saints got what they deserved. Losing........

Not only did that soft mfer need an extra game to break the record, he needed his team to throw the ball in a kneel down situation, and he needed his soft division rival opponent to concede it.

I don’t want to see a single familiar face back on defense next season after watching that. Get out

The Saints owe Jerry Rice and Saints fans an apology
No, they don’t.

If I were the coach, the record that would have been set in that game would have been the most untimed downs to end a game. I would have had 4 defenders holding Mike Evans every play until after 13 defensive holding calls they were within the 5 yard line so they couldn’t gift him the record.
LOL, all these "if it were me" armchair coaches are leaving out how they would have explained a possible instance in which one of their key players for next season tore an ACL in the course of all these extreme measures toward preventing a record in the last half-minute of the final game of a terrible season.

I'm sure that "I tell ya wut, he wuhddunt gawna git them dad-gum yards" would have been a tremendous explanation that the fan base and media would totally have been on board with.
