Lots of people think they are the guy when they have some success, until they get humbled. Loomis just got humbled when the owner fired his HC. For all he's done for the team, it seems he's earned the chance to change things up and do this one more time. I'd prefer a younger GM whose roots don't go back to the 1990's when the game was much different, but I don't think he's incapable either.
Incapable may not be accurate, but we have to look at the reality of his performance after Sean/Drew, and that is objectively terrible. Just because we are scheduled to hire a new coach, who may or may not work out, does not negate our current situation. We lack young talent, our cap is a mess, and we do not have an elite quarterback. The least he could do is bring some new blood into the FO, but his ego would not allow him to acknowledge that either.

Roseman was VP of player personnel for 2 yrs before being GM , Loomis was never involved in player personnel , and he was the guy that fired Reid and hired Chip Kelly. Roseman is on a roll but he had some lean yrs , They were not very good after they won the SB. There was lots of talk about letting him go.
I am aware of that, but his record and performance are exceptional. The clip discusses how he sought to talk to other front office people to get better. A ring and two Super Bowl appearances are pretty impressive. Mick is co-dependent on others because he does not come from the player side.

I don’t know if history supports that. For a mom and pop shop, they have brought in a lot of consultants and known NFL guys over the years.
Mueller and Ireland? Are those two those two whom you are referring to?

Yay, our first new fire Mickey Loomis thread of February.

The ceiling is the same thing that happened when Loomis was the GM with Payton as HC and the floor is a new GM in two or three years. There is no way to predict the results.

Loomis has many issues but his biggest strength and weakness is that he gives his HC what he wants. It's the reason from moves like Davenport and Carr. But, it's also the reason for moves like trading up for Kamara. So, if he gets the right HC, which he has done one time and failed to do another time, the ceiling is winning the Super Bowl. But, if he gets it wrong, the floor is Dennis Allen and this year.
It can always get worse.

I think most SR wants Loomis fired but have accepted it will never happen.

Yup, that is where I am.....

But I'm willing to believe that with the team assembled (if true that 4 guys are making the decision, not just ML) could get it right.....and if we get the right HC then all is good.....ML has proven he can work with a good/great HC....

Trying to stay positive....

Neither did Roseman, he started in admin just like ML. Then he was vice pres of player personnel for 2 yrs. Not that could be a name only position because it was a VP . We don't know how much he was in charge of. I think the only one ML is dependent on is the HC and maybe the scouting dept very much like any GM. Very few successful GMs come from a player or personnel side of the game
