What you watching? - Quarantine Edition (3 Viewers)

So, I rarely watch those overly-popular cable shows when they aired originally (Disney+ Star Wars shows being an exception)... The Sopranos, Lost, Breaking Bad, to name a few. Even network shows like Seinfeld, or Friends (and I'll never watch that one).

Netflix has all seasons of The Walking Dead, so I decided to give it a try... and frankly, I have no idea how that show was so popular... overly dramatic, and it's episode after episode of people getting in bad situations because they're stupid. I have it on TV while I play video games, just so I can catch when main characters die, because I hate them all :hihi:

The only shows that, IMO, were worth of the hype were The Sopranos and Breaking Bad (reason why I watched Better Call Saul as it aired). Sons of Anarchy was good for about 4 seasons.
I watched The Walking Dumb for a few shows and I thought it was pretty good to start and then downgraded into a soap opera level drama. I'm not that into zombie-ish stuff anyways. Kid thought the same and suggested the Last of Us, along the same lines but the acting and storyline was excellent. I guess it's from a video game which I could care less about, but the show was worth recommending in my books.

have you met people before? this is the most realistic thing about the show.. lol

Indeed. Hell, we see people irl make even worse decisions. It's sorta like people's perception of war formed by war movies, when the real thing is much worse in most cases. We're seeing it on the regular. There was an exchange I saw between a Ukrainian and 2 Russian soldiers. They were mere feet from each other and traded grenades. The Russians were stunned and the Ukrainian killed both, pretty much executing them on the spot. Real life is often crazier than fiction.

Gomorrah is great on Max. It is an Italian show that ran for five seasons and has a spin off. Reminds me of a mix of the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and a little bit of Game of Thrones. I’m only on season 2.

You can change the voices to english, but I recommend leaving the Italian audio on with english subtitles on for season 1. They improved on the english audio for season 2 but if you are a stickler for the audio not matching the lips than might want to just to stick to the subtitles.

My top 3 shows in one? Lol. I'll have to check it out.

I binged the first season of this UK superhero show called Supacell (it's on Netflix). It's a gritty, interesting take on supes. I liked it...

I had watched the first 3 seasons a few yrs ago but at the time I couldn't find the last 2 (this was before HBO Max picked it up). So, I started it over, I'm almost done w/ S3 (again). I totally forgot just how good/BRUTAL it is...

"Looking for Mr. Goodbar". It's weird to see "Kay Adams" getting it on with a crazy Richard Gere (pre American Gigolo), a crazier Tom Berenger (pre, um, I guess Big Chill or Platoon), and a pathetic William Atherton (pre Die Hard), a young Levar Burton (same year as Roots).

Besides the above, this movie also has:

Sex, drugs, and disco.
A '70s gay bar
Diane Keaton reading "The Godfather"
A Kama Sutra light fixture
A cautionary tale for young women living by themselves

There's a blast from the past. Where did you find it?

It was on TMC. Mario Cantone was "programming" on Friday night. He said it's rarely shown anymore and so he wanted to include it.

He also included "New York, New York". I had never seen it so I thought I'd try it. It's Liza! It's DeNiro! It's bad!! (Except for the premier of The Theme From New York, New York).

Yeah, New York was bad. TMC has slid a little, I want my Alfred Hitchcock, epic westerns, real comedy...
Of late it's been too many obscure badly done foreign films. I like foreign films but not something that looks like it had a $100 budget.

This afternoon's lineup on TMC,
Whatever happened to baby Jane, Psycho, Double Indemnity.
I've seen them all too many times but love every one.

They are tough. They had the original "Diabolique" on a little while ago. It's a classic but I don't love reading subtitles.

We watched "The Man With 1000 Kids" on Netflix last night. Man what a great watch. I understand that this is a documentary for entertainment but the directors scratched the surface on a lot of questions that were not addressed in this series. Hopefully someone picks up the ball and runs with it to answer those questions.

Moon knight season 1 bluray. Done with disc 1. A couple of the themes, late, abandoned tru love wont, avatars life after death, living dead, vain beat the bullet not your so or maybe. The whole outsider mark of the tat thing. All very secret society kinda stuff. The psych stuff, all part of the game isn't it. So far it's on the level in a star wars kinda way, maybe.
