Whats something you’ve noticed about this new offense? (1 Viewer)

1s thing is the most obvious and that is through two games, we have more rushing attempts than passing (76RA-40PA). We had 69 pass attempts through 2 weeks last season. When we do throw the ball, the majority of the routes are no longer at or within 3 to 10 yards of the LOS.

2nd thing, we are using deception and making defenses think which will lead to defensive mistakes. We are no longer last in pre-snap motion and last in play-action!

For me one of the main things I’ve noticed is our receivers look open. What I mean is the last year or two SP was here and the years after he left it always seemed like accurate passing was the key because our WRs always had DBs stuck to them like glue. It was always frustrating because the other teams WRs always looked open. This year whether it’s the motion or it’s the route design our players have 3 to 5 steps on the DBs so a ball a little behind or not perfect is still catchable. It’s not like the players are different, they are just open.
It looks better.

What I have seen is that this blocking scheme fits the strengths and mitigates the weaknesses of our Oline. It also fits AK like a glove. Which in turn makes everything else easier for Carr and the receivers. Everything works because what’s going on up front fits and works now. And the run game now feeds the pass game. That’s been the problem all along.

There’s obviously a lot of changes that are great and the whole atmosphere has changed in that locker room. I can’t be the only one that thinks it partially has to do with Cantguardmike out of there. I’m not downplaying his time with us but he was a diva and a distraction in that lockeroom bringing in unnecessary problems his last few with the saints. One individual can bring down a whole outfit, just think about that person you work with that when they walk in the room the whole atmosphere changes. Just a thought.

The plays that don’t gain a lot of yards don’t look hopeless and doomed - they just look like the defense won a rep. Three yards on the first view of a play will be thirteen the next time Kubiak calls it, and there will be no difference other than maybe he called it from the opposite hash.

Klint Kubiak > Sean Payton.

This system is so player friendly and that’s refreshing to see. It wasn’t long ago that Gary Kubiak had Matt Shaub making pro bowls in this system.
