Who belongs in the National Championship game.... (1 Viewer)

I got you.
And I think if you want NCAA football to more resemble NCAA basketball - i.e. playoffs are hte most important part - then that is the direction we should move towards.

I admit I am in the minority but I prefer the way it is now, or better yet, the way it used to be, to a playoff system. I like that the regular season is basically a playoff.

Although in your example I think the regular season would still have a lot of intensity during the regular season - since it would only be 10 games, one loss is huge. But it still wouldn't be quite the same. Take Florida this year. Suppose just like this year they lost a conference game but still win their division - now further suppose they drop the Fla. St. game. They have 2 losses in 11 games (they win the conference title game) but still get to play for the national title.

If everyone played real schedules, I'd be all for it.

No more cupcakes for anyone. Make every game tough.

As a Mountaineer fan, I'd love to have the regular BE schedule
followed by a top team in the other 5 bcs conferences.

here's an example

Michigan
Florida
Virginia Tech
USC
Texas

add those 5 to the 7 conference games and there's your schedule.

I'm not afraid to play that schedule. I'd take 7 ranked teams or more on the
schedule every year no problem.

Yes, it could happen. Although, they get in the playoffs, not specifically in the NC game. If they aren't good enough, they'll get bounced in the playoffs.

My head tells me it should be Michigan and Ohio State again

The fan in me wants it to be USC/tOSU

It SHOULD be Texas and Ohio State :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

Hahahahhaaa:rolleyes: :smilielol: :ok: :hahahaha: :mdr168:

Gotta love the Mr. Too proud of texas guys.

????

If we hadn't lost our starting QB in the first quarter and thus lost to Kansas State, we would be the clear frontrunner to play Ohio State in Tempe.

I'm not saying we're the second best team in the country (I think Michigan is), but we would almost definitely be in the #2 spot and hold it to rematch Ohio State in the national championship game.

Has nothing to do with being too proud of Texas.

I'm definitely in the minority, but I that wasn't impressed with either Michigan or tOSU this year. They're good, but not worth the "greatest ever" hype they're getting no more than the same hype the SC/ND game last year received. They're good and worthy of playing in the Nat'l Title game, but so are SC and UF.

I'm also with you on this.

Just messing with you.
I don't think you would be in the 2 however, correct me if I am wrong, you were still ranked behind Florida and USC right before the Michigan lost to tOSU.

So lets bring up this topic once more.

This week some Top 10 BCS teams have/will go down.

West Virginia out.
Arkansas out.
Notre Dame or USC(tonight) out.

Florida barely held on today, but they still have to play Arkansas next week to end their season.

Even though Texas was 12th in the BCS, I'll add them here too since it was definatly an upset by the Aggies.

A team that will benefit the most from all these losses, imho, is Louisville, mostly because they still have 2 games left...as long as they do their job and beat Pitt and UConn. Though, I definatly don't think its enough to boost them into the big picture.

LSU is also like Louisville. Due to their win over Arkansas they will bump up a few spots. Also with the other losses they will move up even more, though again, not enough for the big picture.

I like the PAC-10: Pee-wee athletic conference. All this talk about the USC non-conf schedule. Funny how they don't talk about their annual cupcake conf schedule. Put USC in the SEC or Big 10 (OSU, Mich, Wis, Mich St, PSU, etc) and they lose two games this year...easily. Shame. They recruit well out there and sadly their competition in their conference is JV at best. I hope OSU treats them like a puppy and rubs their noses in it for 60 mins.
