He is the best coach right now. His resume mirrors Sean Payton’s.

Not at all. Their resume went completely diverged about 4 years ago. Payton just took one of the least talented teams to the playoffs with a rookie QB because he was out coaching the opposition and he did it one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. Dallas Cowboys, being one of the most talented teams in the NFL, became a joke that the nation laughed at losing big games because McCarthy kept getting out coached against other good coaches..

In fact, its become so expected that the Dallas Cowboys lose the big games we no longer even laugh. And this all happened under McCarthy, constantly getting out coached whenever he went up against a playoff contending head coach despite having one the most talented NFL rosters.

McCarthy's ceiling was reached, and his last few years with the Packers and 4 years with the Cowboys have demonstrated very well his inability to make game time adjustments to put his players in position to succeed. Instead, he tries to rely on his players out playing the opposition.

This works against bad and average teams. It usually doesn't work against playoff caliber teams. Hence why we no longer laugh. Its practically expected at this point.

So the better question is, why would you expect it to be different here? We just went through 3 years of Dennis Allen, and everyone on this board was expecting something different to what we did with the Raiders. We saw how that turned out.

McCarthy is a desperation hire to simply become relevant again but never being a superbowl competitor.

The best coaches all started somewhere and impressed in their first year usually. Sean McVay, Kevin O'Connell. Sean Payton. I get the lure of Mike McCarthy. He makes teams and coaches them to compete for the playoffs year in and year out. But as soon as he's there, or up against another really good coach he very often gets out coached.

Going with McCarthy feels like a desperation move to simply be relevant while simultaneously foregoing being a superbowl competitor. Just think about how often over the last 4 years we've all laughed when the Cowboys were taken to school in big games. It became so redundant that we no longer laugh anymore. It's practically become expected.

Why do we want to become that?

This isn't much different then the Dennis Allen hire. You saw him with the Raiders but many on this board expected different for some very odd reason.

We saw Sean Payton for years here in New Orleans. But for some very odd reason people on this board expected different when he went to Denver. They just made the playoffs with a rookie QB and what is being called as one of the least talented NFL teams.

I have no desire to become a team that can compete for a playoff birth to most often lose the big games because our coach keeps getting out coached.

Swing for the fence or strike out. A single or double isn't gonna get us to the big dance.
Great points. That's why I posted the question of safety, McCarthy, or unknown as a HC, Brady or whomever. And I did mention it worked with Payton. We just need to hit on this one.

McCarthy is 9-5 with Cooper Rush at starting QB. It’s very reminiscent of Payton winning with Teddy, Jameis, and Taysom, except Teddy and Jameis were actually first round talents and Cooper Rush is a UDFA career backup.

And yet one of the most talented NFL teams became the laughing joke of the NFL always losing the big games because their coach was out coached for 4 years and was also out coached the previous many years with the Packers, which Packers front officials stated thats one of the reasons he was let go. I don't recall Payton ever getting fired.

Like the Lions? The fact is if he can stabilize this team and get us winning the division like the Bucs are doing now, it will be a huge step up from where we are now. Hit on a franchise QB in that time and maybe he becomes Andy Reid. If he doesn’t we’re at least in a better place for the next coach. He’s 61. I don’t think he’s going to be around for 15 years. He didn’t get fired. They couldn’t agree to the contract extension. Everyone in Dallas says Jerry expected McCarthy to be the head coach.

Went with Joe Brady.... what he did at LSU can't get that out of my mind....
Him doing well with the Bills....

However I will say this it's a risky move for someone who has never been a head coach in college or the NFL.... but heck I am ready to take the risk....

So tired of the mediocrity vibe that's been going on now for the past couple of years...

Think it's a risk worth taking
IDK why Brady is getting all the credit for that season, but Steve Ensminger was the OC and play caller.

Now that AG’s out, my wishlist is down to:

1) Joe Brady OC Bills
2) Kellen Moore OC Eagles
3) Anthony Weaver DC Dolphins
4) Mike Kafka OC Giants

Rolled with Kliff Kingsbury (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kliff_Kingsbury).. reason ?? need new young outside of the house blood.. he's offensive minded & outside of Ben Johnson was/is my personal #2.. nothing more, nothing less & for gawds sake don't grill me over that choice, cuz my #3 is June Jones..(always have been and always will love the Run-n-Shoot, to my grave..) LoL!

I went with Kingsbury also. I've been wanting Brian Hartline from Ohio State for OC/WR coach for the last few years. He has successfully recruited and mentored some of the best wide receivers in the nation.

I don’t get the argument that Payton and McCarthy resumes are similar, so let’s hire the other guy since we can’t have Payton.

A similar resume for McCarthy does not equate to success for us. Different franchises. Different teams. Different circumstances. You have to look past the numbers. Did he do worse than he should have with the talent he had, in GB, in Dallas? I don’t see McCarthy in the same light as Payton from a coaching impact and a personnel guy.

Brady then Kingsbury then McCarthy. Starting to lean Kingsbury because we need a fresh offensive mind.

I have nothing against Mike McCarthy I actually wanted him over Payton in 06. I just wanted the Saints to start with a fresh new coach. I'm a Saints fan at the end of the day, will be rooting for whoever the coach is as long as were winning.... Who Dat! My pick would be Brady!

Do you think Payton did as good as he should have with the talent he had? I think we should’ve have 2-3 super bowls.
