N/S Why has it taken so long for Caleb Williams to be exposed as a Bust? Smells like the Jets Zac Wilson. (1 Viewer)

Ill bet you all hope that he falls to 14............
I hope Daniels slips to #14, but we all know that won't happen. I don't want Caleb Williams at #14. He won't fall below #3 though. Some teams can't help themselves, they will take whom ever the taking heads say they should take.

Are you saying that if Williams fell to 14, you wouldnt draft him? Are you actually being serious?

A guy with that arm talent playing at least 9 games a year in a Dome?

I disagree with people a lot on here. They have their opinions, I have mine. We usually agree to disagree. I know DA wont ever take us where we want to go. A few people think he can.

But this crosses a line in sanity. And again, dont come back here in two years when he flames out in Chicago. Everyone flames out in Chicago. But passing on Williams at 14 is actually insane.

Yet a rookie's lack of success while playing on a bad team w/ no talent would mean he's a bust.
Checks out.

Look at Brees' indoor vs outdoor stats. 70% completions to 65%. 307 ypg to 250 ypg. 2.67 TD-INT ratio vs 2.0. QB rating 104.6 to 92.5. Its not even close really.

You dont pass on a guy that has all the tools, and plays at least 9 games a year in a dome. Derek Carr is not the reason you pass on what people more or less think could be a generational talent at the most important position on the field. Its not going to happen because 13 GMs arent going to stake their reputation, job and legacy as being the guy who passed on Williams.

Again, unless its Chicago. I just refuse to label any QB a bust who goes to Chicago. Its a place QBs go to bust.

I just think Liveoak is smoking too much Merrill Hoge.

You missed the point. Its playing quarterback in specifically Chicago thats next to impossible. History says its laughable how bad its been for QBs who went to die in Chicago. Its not just bad franchises. Its Chicago. Im not sure CJ, Burrow or Trevor could be anywhere near the QBs the are in Chicago. Its an impossible place to play QB. No QB has ever arrived in Chicago. You cant even name a QB that is even borderline decent for longer than a year.

History does not lie. Lets look at your franchises from a QB perspective, and when they became franchises.

(1968) Cincinatti has had 3 different QBs, and 6 seasons over 4k. Theyve had 28 seasons over 3k.

(1995) Jacksonville has had 3 different QBs throw for 4k, and 15 seasons over 3k. Theyve been a franchise 28 years.

(2002) Houston has 6 seasons over 4k, and theyve been a franchise for 21 years.

(1920) One Hundred and Four seasons. Chicago has never had a 4k passer, and have had only 12 3k yard seasons in 104 years.

The 3 formerly hapless franchises you listed have been playing for a total of 105 season, and have 16 seasons over 4k, and 53 seasons over 3k

The Bears have been a franchise 104 season, and have 0 4k, and 12 3k.

So yes, I cant see Williams, JV Uncle Rico or Jesus Christ in his prime going to Chicago and becoming a perennial pro bowl QB. You wont be predicting anything if Williams goes to Chicago and is a bust. Its expected at this point. Anywhere else he will be fine.
You make a compelling argument about Chicago, similar to Zach Wilson going to the jets. Zach Wilson is still a wildly over drafted QB going to a bad team. This doesn't how ever, promise sucess at another team.

Ill agree. NYJ would be the clear 2nd QB graveyard in the NFL. Their single season yardage leader is Joe Namath. In 1967. In a 14 games schedule. But I dont think Wilson wouldve been worth his draft pick on any of the other 31 teams though. He just doesnt have it. Whether you play outdoors up north, or in a dome - a roof cant overcome lack of talent. It was a reach by the Jets, and it turned out exactly like youd expect.

No one was comparing Wilson to Brady or Brees or Manning though. People compare Williams to Mahomes. And he was pretty clearly better than Mahomes in college. "Generational" gets tossed around with him. Playing 9 games in a dome doesnt make you a good qb, but it does remove a boatload of factors - which is buoyed by Brees numbers. And just about any other QBs numbers playing indoors vs outdoors.

You may think Daniels or Maye should be the 1st qb off the board, but not taking Williams at 14? I dont know.

Context my friend. This thread is about how someone is flabbergasted that we don't think Williams is going to be a bust. The post you responded to and your response is

Name one player that is emotionally unstable that has succeeded at the QB position?

Since this thread IS about Williams it's only natural to think your post was about Williams. Hence I asked if you were saying Williams was emotionally unstable
Yeah when i typed that post i didnt think it would bring the thread off the rails as much as it did, I was honest just thought the OP's original reasoning was not good as they were not related to his game on the football field or his mechanics. I felt the response about a qb being emotional stable was a post to disagree just to disagree.

As a semantic matter, a player cannot be a bust until he's a bust. You can be a likely bust, or overrated, but you can't be a bust until you meet the criteria - which certainly includes being in the league and proving not to be worth the draft capital and money spent on the player.

I get what you are saying. But, when a team gives up 2 #1s and change to draft you and you are not good out the box...........you a 1st rd bust.
So if he’s awesome next year (his 2nd in the league), he’s a bust?

You wouldn't take Jayden Daniels if he fell to #14? Unless something unexpected is revealed (injury, off the field, mental, etc) I think he is the best QB in the draft.....totally disagree here....
