Will Deshaun Watson ask for a trade (2 Viewers)

Watson lead the league in passing yards, completed 70.2% of his passes and threw 33 touchdowns to 7 interceptions. This is as bad of a take as swimmer claiming the Bengals would actually trade the #1 overall pick and skip drafting Burrow.

They would have to be loco in the coco to trade him. He’d have to make a very public demand and say he refuses to stay in Houston. And then it would be a bidding war. And we’d have to trade quite a bit to win it.

The compensation offered by posters on this thread aren't even close. The Texans would want multiple picks from multiple drafts. Probably 6 - 10 picks over 2 to 3 drafts with most if not all of those picks in the top 3 rounds (3 1st round). He is a legit top 5 QB in this league.

Houston media likes Watson to the Saints for 4 1sts. I would do that. Those 4 firsts are essentially 2nd round picks. Watson elevates everyone around him, so you could keep feeding him UDFA’s in Sean’s system and we would be able to keep rolling.

I think the best way for the Saints to stay competitive post-Brees is to use Taysom or Winston (or both) to keep us afloat one year while we add a rookie and develop him. Dropping $30M a year on a QB is not sustainable on our part. Not if you want to keep the core of this team together. Otherwise, you will have Watson and little else around him.

Watson doesn’t have anyone around him in Houston because Bill O’Brien is paying guys who are no longer on the team, and traded away everyone of value. Mickey and Sean don’t do that bad a job with the payroll.

But I agree. At some point we will have to pay off the credit card, and Winston/Hill might be our best option.

The wildest part about these numbers is knowing this roster, and seeing who he has been throwing too.

His base pay isn't that crazy. Houston would be on the hook for his signing bonus hits.

He has a no trade clause on his contract. Unless the team cut him, he can't be traded.

Key players would leave, yes, but the Saints would quickly rebuild around Watson. With the way Ireland & co. are drafting they would be a contenders again within 2-3 seasons.

The Houston media are hilarious. And entirely unrelated to the actual decision makers. I may as well ask Bob Arkwright, part time horse racing correspondent for the Preston Gazette, for his inside scoop.

A lot of morons here who don't understand that a 25 year old Franchise QB is literally priceless.

The actual language of the contract is that Watson can be traded if he requests/approves it. Pretty much he can only be traded to the team of his choosing. Really smart thing to do now that we've all seen how freaking stupid Bill O'Brien is.
