Will Deshaun Watson ask for a trade (1 Viewer)

The Houston media are hilarious. And entirely unrelated to the actual decision makers. I may as well ask Bob Arkwright, part time horse racing correspondent for the Preston Gazette, for his inside scoop.
Yes, what the media says is different from what the actual team wants, but unlike us here on SR.com, the Houston media has a better idea of what the Texans might want than we might. If anything, they are more interested in the Texans positive haul than we Saints fans are.

Who knows what the Texans want, but if their fans and media thing that 4 1sts is in the right vicinity, then shoot your shot and hope they accept.

He has a no trade clause on his contract. Unless the team cut him, he can't be traded.

Beautiful. I look forward to relentlessly shutting down future Watson fever dream threads with this absolute gem.

I tip my hat to you, sir. Genuinely.

A lot of morons here who don't understand that a 25 year old Franchise QB is literally priceless.

The actual language of the contract is that Watson can be traded if he requests/approves it. Pretty much he can only be traded to the team of his choosing. Really smart thing to do now that we've all seen how freaking stupid Bill O'Brien is.
Spoilsport!

Wow, what a delicious delusion. Media speculation is more accurate depending what city the journalist is based in. Riiiiight.

if you believe that, I have a timeshare to sell you šŸ˜Ž

1 tweet? He has been saying stuff for months.

I wish I had the money to invest, but I am still paying off the bill on my Elvis collector plates which I purchased with my Diners Club card.

But seriously, yes, I do believe that the Houston sports media has the interest of the Texans over the interest of the Saints. This isnā€™t ESPN, these folks are fans of the local team who are paid to talk sports. Think of Bobby Hebert or anyone else in the New Orleans/Louisiana sports media. Do you honestly think they have the interests of non-Louisiana teams over those within the state?

But it's not about the interest. It's about the knowledge. Or in this case, the total lack thereof.

I know no more about how much my local hometown football team wants to pay their kitchen cleaner than you do. The same extends to how highly they might value their players.

Without sources, the media are just guessing, like everyone else.

If he were asking for a trade... and the Texans were willing to oblige (which I do NOT believe), I donā€™t think the Saints could realistically make it happen...
Iā€™d just really hope that he didnā€™t end up in San Francisco.

They would have to be loco in the coco to trade him. Heā€™d have to make a very public demand and say he refuses to stay in Houston. And then it would be a bidding war. And weā€™d have to trade quite a bit to win it.

I used to think someone would be just as crazy to trade a player like DeAndre Hopkins. But here we are.

To that end, the local media has a better idea of what the team would want more than we as outsiders would know.

Well they won't have a 1st or 2nd rounder this year since those were traded away. They didn't have a 1st rounder last year. They traded away Hopkins for nothing. Watson will is going to be wasted on an aging team with no real upcoming young talent. Can you blame him for if he wanted out? His biggest detractor is his contact (32 million a season I think) which would make him difficult to trade for.
But if there was one QB that I'd want on this team it would be him. He would keep us in SB contention for the foreseeable future.
