Will Ian Book be the next Saints QB to beat out Taysom to be the starter? (5 Viewers)

Nice try at hiding the fact that you are a Taysom hater, but try harder next time. This is an obvious shot at him. Sorry to burst your bubble, but Trevor did not beat him out, Hill, is not healthy.
Hate is a very strong word! Perhaps, I am just telling the truth, and it just sounds like hate to............you. Because, maybe that is how you view the world. I have never "taken shots at Taysom" all my criticisms are fact based and never personal. Tell me Derek, is criticizing the 2nd string QB on the Saints, the fox hole you want to call people names on. At least people want to read what I have to post.

Not yet. After Atl. Trevor never leaves the field unless he is injured. We just got Ak into the passing game, we are not going to stop that, to retool to play Taysom ball.

In July 2021 I predicted the succession of QBs for this season: as being Jamies QB1, Trevor QB2, and Taysom would play the joker role...... IN JULY!!!! When most people didn't even know who Trevor was. What is your tract record? Where is your creative insight. Please, sports blogger school me on whats going to happen in QB succession.

Then again this could be completely off the mark if Hill was splitting QB snaps with Siemian this week.
Semian been getting the QB2 reps week to week as the game day #2. B4 Hill got hurt he was repping his other roles. I imagine Hill needs a couple of weeks of ramping up his QB reps to be ready to play.

Based on what I have seen of Book, he has a real chance next year and fighting chance fighting for the starting job.
If Hill starts at QB, I hope he has made a quantum leap in reading defense or we are in a lot of trouble. Siemian is in the same boat. He has to wipe off the cobwebs and be a better QB than he was before or we are doomed. With no Thomas, we really need Hill as the MPB to help create confusion and mismatches. We need a lot of unsung heroes on the offense to emerge and we need the defense to get even better down the stretch if we hope for anything like the playoff, and we we dare dream, SB.

The rest of the discussion is theoretical. We are asking more than we expect regardless who is playing QB.

I really like Taysom Hill. He will go down in NFL history as having carved out the most unique, and specialized positions in the NFL. That we have seen in a very long time. He is a great teammate, and is a team first guy. But, If Trevor goes down, will Ian Book be the next Saints QB to beat out Taysom to be the starter? Will (medically cleared) Taysom Hill be activated to play the joker roll? Will Taysom, just hold a clip board for the game as QB2? Will Ian Book be activated to play QB2?
If Winston doesn’t come back….hopefully it would be for the reason of Ian Book doing extremely well.

I asked someone who is Notre Dame fan about Book. He said not that good. But as they say you never know

I actually asked a former ND player and he basically said the same thing. You never know if he can get locked in we may be pleasantly surprised.

But the only reason it went this way is due to Taysom being injured. If Taysom was healthy, Trevor would not have seen the field except the scenario where JW gets hurt during a game. Sean Payton said this. So your prediction was pretty moronic. SP flat out said something along these lines" "Jameis is the starter, and Taysom is the backup. The only way Trevor sees the field is if JW goes down mid-game. The following week Taysom will get the start" Of course if am paraphrasing. I guess you know better than our head coach though.

This game might tell us some things about our coach that we've never got to see. With Drew, no matter how bad of a game he was having, he was NEVER getting benched.
So is CSP a stubborn coach? Is he hesitant to pull a struggling QB? That's something we may find out over the next couple of weeks.

but Drew Brees has tons of good games and it's rare for him to have a bad game.

Yup!

.. while I respect TH as a football player, if he was going to be a starting QB he would've done so by now.. Whereas Book is a pure QB sitting in the wings, ableit young with barely any experience, he's still a "pure" QB.. & personally I can't wait to see that young man do his thing.. I believe a good majority here will understand when it's his time.. CSP wanted him for a reason.. just my take..

PS: a mid round QB pick from Notre Dame, hmmmm, seems I remember this from years gone by, that ended up haunting the Saints for a long time.. LoL!

NW.
I don't think Ian Book will turn out like Joe Montana. BUT... he is a pure QB, and he has mobility. And even though Taysom is obviously mobile (maybe that's the wrong term because he is not mobile within the pocket) he is a one read QB who takes off running when the first read is not there.

First of all i’m not sure Taysom isn’t starting tomorrow. Just because the media has been led to believe Trvor is starting doesn’t mean he is.
Second, even if Trevor starts, its because Taysom is recovering from concussion , not beat out.

Hill will enhance the Run game with his presence touching the ball every snap. Read option and qb power will keep some players out of gaps focused on him for some big runs.

We'll know for certain next Sunday if TH was indeed surpassed by TS...I think TS is getting the start because he was able to practice all week for the full install for this Sunday's gameplan.

If after a full practice week next week TS ends up QB1 again, then we can say TH got passed up...for now, I'm chocking this up to availability.

Not sure about the wording of this thread title but I would like to see Book in some live action this year

With Winston out, I’m expecting to see Book start a game this season. Taysom may not be able to sustain a full season because of his style of play. If Siemian isn’t generating enough points vs Atlanta in a tight game, and continues the following game, then Book may see action versus Tennessee or Philadelphia.
