Will Ian Book be the next Saints QB to beat out Taysom to be the starter? (4 Viewers)

I think Ian Book is considered an emergency QB, BUT if Siemian is injured, he would probably be the candidate to step in at QB and finish the game. This has less to do with "beating out" Taysom Hill than it does with gameplan.
If a Rookie QB gets the call over a vet because the vet takes snaps at TE during the week then I think the Rookie is the better option as the vet should be able step in and run the plays he knows since he's been here 4 years

It simply is not Taysom's destiny to lead this team as a true # 1 QB for any meaningful period of time. A pocket passer with excellent timing and accuracy will always be what SP's system requires and it is why the Taysom era as a full time QB came to such a fast close. If the QB can run then it is a bonus (R Wilson), but you cannot avoid having to be a pocket passer who undertsands the timing and anticipation in this complicated offense. That is the biggest thing in regards to success for our offense. Taysom will continue to be an exciting and expensive Swiss Army Knife used in his traditional role. I get the Hillites want to carry the flag and it is entertaining, but the writing has been on the wall for sometime now. We would see more Ian Book at the QB position than we would Taysom if Siemian had to miss any time, it is what it is right now for 2021 until our QB situation becomes more clear next year

I think Payton liked Hill a lot, so he very much wanted him to develop into a 4 down QB. I think Payton now knows this will not happen. Will CSP ever say that on TV? No! I believe CSP saying he "likes the QB room" is referring to Siemian and Book. He's not going to say "I like the QB room except Taysom". So, I think, and this is only my opinion, that if Siemian is nicked or overwhelmed, Book will get the nod with Hill taking a lot of snaps. Been wrong many times, one more time won't kill me. :hihi:

But the only reason it went this way is due to Taysom being injured. If Taysom was healthy, Trevor would not have seen the field except the scenario where JW gets hurt during a game. Sean Payton said this. So your prediction was pretty moronic. SP flat out said something along these lines" "Jameis is the starter, and Taysom is the backup. The only way Trevor sees the field is if JW goes down mid-game. The following week Taysom will get the start" Of course if am paraphrasing. I guess you know better than our head coach though.
Your post is going to age like gas station milk.

This game might tell us some things about our coach that we've never got to see. With Drew, no matter how bad of a game he was having, he was NEVER getting benched.
So is CSP a stubborn coach? Is he hesitant to pull a struggling QB? That's something we may find out over the next couple of weeks.
I don’t see Trevor struggling, under Payton. Do I see him having bad moments? Not so good games? Yes to both. But that being said, Brees, Bridgewater, Hill and Winston, all had their bad moments, as well as not so good games and were not replaced. Payton, IMO, once he has made his decision on who will play QB, Payton will ride, or die, with his decision until the end of the season. Personally, I do not think it ever benefits the team, when you constantly are worrying about who the QB will be, if something bad happens in a game, or games. You just need to ride and grind it out until the end of the season. JMO.

I think this is spot on. Great points!

I was a huge Siemian fan when he came into the league. I thought he had the potential to be a 15 year franchise QB. He was accurate, very intelligent, and had a great sense about when to run. He sucked so bad after his rookie year I gave up. Can Payton take that native intelligence and make a real QB out of Siemian? It's possible! I think Book is underrated too. I will go through lots of popcorn and lots of QB watching to see how this plays out!

What's weird is I am not overly worried about any of our current QBs on the roster nor overly confident. None of them are putting a game on their back at this point if the defense lets us get too far down.

Nothing he posted was an opinion, it was factual. SP did actually say all that. Now, whether or not he adheres to it for the remainder of the season is another question.

Idk, but I’m ready to see Ian at some point. Know zero about him as I don’t watch preseason, and would like to see how he plays against the ones.

Personally I have little faith in either Taysom or Ian being our future at QB, but I’ve certainly been wrong before.

Do you watch any college football? He lead his team to the CFP but lost to Bama but who doesn't now days. He had a good Notre Dame career nothing spectacular but far far from bad. He was good he could be could for the Saints in time but the jury is still out on that if he doesn't get to play much.

I don't think you understand, what "Sean said" has nothing to do with this debate. I'm saying baring injury Trevor remains QB1 the remainder of the season. B thinks that is a moronic prediction. Last I saw, when asked about QBs by reporters, Sean says "we are going to look at everything." We will find out who QB1 will be going forward, right before the Titans.

Let's face it, if the defense let's us down we won't have a championship season no matter who is under center.
Just ask Drew Brees.

That I can agree with, SP will evaluate the situation and modify the line-up as he sees fit. My only point was that SP did make that claim at the beginning of the season and reiterated it in the post game interview. But, he is the coach, and like a woman, can change his mind at any time (ducking out the back door).
