Will Saints fans wear bags again? (1 Viewer)

Uh, yes it does. For one, not all tickets are already sold and if you don't show up there's no money made from concessions, gear, etc.
That's small change stuff. Operational revenue is generated from TV contracts and NFL revenue sharing.

I wore a bag one time during the "bag years". I was young and emotional. Today, no way. I'm not responsible for the ineptitude of a billion dollar franchise. Like a poster said above, just stop showing up. Thats the decision I made after the covid season. Granted, my frustation was with the league as well as the organization, but the way I felt about the team would have warranted that decision alone. I'm happy to say that I'm not paying for this kind of disfunction.

Too late, one time is more than BIGSAINTSFAN could accept since he’s the true fan gatekeeper. Most everyone else gets it, I lived thru those “bag years” as well so I see why fans did it at the time. I also see that it’s such a stain that fans would be able to make an immediate impact by wearing them now, just this mere thread is causing controversy. Imagine national media picking it up.

That "real fan" shirt is the best (not at all actually). I was a season ticket holder from 1975 (first year in Dome) through the covid season. I sat through some bad stuff. I've cheered, booed, laughed and cried, but that doesn't give me "real fan" bragging rights. It just means thats my time investment and emotional experiences.

As a rival fan, I can assure you this is a bad idea. In our minds, it trumps any dumb thing we have ever said or done. You don't need to feed that image. As much as I hate it, the Saints haven't been that team in decades.

The only place I see where you are in danger of this becoming a long-term thing is that I'm not sure your organization has embraced the reality of the cap situation. They are still trying to manage it like they did a decade ago, but this isn't truly a team that is a player or two away. I hope they do know that? Well, in all honestly, I hope they don't :) Just keep kicking it down the road...it will be fine.

Imagine the game starting and there are zero Saints fans in attendance the entire first quarter. Everyone is outside. Imagine how embarrassed Benson and Loomis would be knowing we as fans have had enough.

Then I guess those who wore them in the 70s/80s weren't fans either. They should all turn their fan cards in if they're still with us.
IF they're still around they've been fans longer than you've been alive. People trying to tell people who have been fans for nearly 60 years to turn in their fan cards need to check themselves. If they didn't live through JD Roberts, John Roberts and the rest circus clown parade of bad coaches till Jim Mora came along then they have no right to judge their "level of fandom".

You Just stop. I know this is the age of participation trophies but there are certainly things that separate fans from nonfans. "OH I'm just wearing a Falcons shirt, but I'm really a Saints fan! How dare you question my loyalty." Smh...

Just saying, "but I'm a Saints fan" doesn't give someone carte Blanche ability to troll the team. At some point, you're not a fan. Let me be more clear. If you're wearing a bag on your head, you're a Saints troll and not a fan.
Ridiculous. Who are you to judge? Who anointed you?

I don’t think anyone is telling anyone to turn in their fan cards.
However, the clinging to the bagheads is overwhelming.
This isn’t that franchise. Even at this point, the Saints are galaxies ahead of the 70s/early 80s Saints.

It has been decades and we still haven't lived down that bagheads, Aints crap. Its almost as bad as the falcons and their 28-3 thing.

And people want to do that again? It just makes me wonder how dumb Saints fans can get. <smh>

There is only a small segment that still cling to the Bagheads.

There are definitely people telling people to turn their fan cards. Don't remember who but it's in the thread somewhere.
