With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (57 Viewers)

Yes, but you can't force them to be there where you pick. That's how teams, including this one, fork up in the draft.

Agreed…. That’s why I’m good with 3 top level offensive playmakers at 9 in this draft. No need to force anything. Just don’t take another player that doesn’t give you actual juice in the form of points and wins.

If this team could have scored when it needed to last year…. The season looks a lot different. They couldn’t because they had no healthy playmakers outside of AK.

People want to put everything on the defense and OLine…. And they had plenty of fault. But both could have been overcome with just one more TD per game this year. The opportunity was there too…. The talent and availability wasn’t.

Jeanty is a wasted pick without a dominating OL. Would rather sign Najee Harris from Pittsburg

So, the Saints won't upgrade the OL.....ever?

The Saints have had a lot of success with RBs drafted in the 1st round, and not a lot outside of that except for Kamara. If we can get the production, we got out of Deuce or Ingram, run to the dang podium. The Saints could suddenly have a stacked RB room that teams have to gameplan for. Name one other position group that the Saints are even remotely close to being stacked at. It would be nice to be good at "something" instead of a big fat plate of "meh".

Mason Graham will be a top 5 pick….

We need playmakers on offense.
Need playmakers on defense too. The team needs playmakers everywhere.

Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory were both undrafted.

No duh…. We need players everywhere.

But I need to save my liver and be able to watch games with out wrenching in sickness every time the offense takes the field too.

And I don’t do exceptions to the rule…. For every late rounder or un drafted guy that does well…. There are hundreds that are camp beasts and wash out. Those examples have almost no merit. Other than to say…. At one point we were super lucky.

I know. And the Saints have been trying to capture that magic again for a lot of years, and I can't recall even a descent backup. The Saints haven't drafted a star player in a long time. They need to finally hit on one.

You mean the guy who had 17 rushing yards against the Ravens? That guy?

For people who don't think workhorse backs matter:

Travis Henry: 26 rushes for 186 yards

James Cook: 23 rushes for 120 yards

Joe Mixon: 25 rushes for 106 yards

Saquon Barkley: 25 rushes for 119 yards

Josh Jacobs: 18 rushes for 81 yards

From this weekend's playoff games.

Don't disagree necessarily, but more often than not, they're drafted late first round or in the second round. Barkley is the only one who went super high.

Of course workhorse backs matter. But how many of those workhorse backs are with their original team? I count one, James Cook. The rest were available as relatively cheap free agents and only 2 out of 5 were taken in the first round.

There may be two offensive playmakers that are worth the #9 pick, McMillan and Jeanty, the rest would be a reach at #9. You shouldn't ignore a potentially great player like Will Johnson, Carter, etc. in favor of just drafting for a playmaker because it makes it more fun. It's not like we don't have any playmakers. We have Alvin, Olave, and Shaheed who if used properly are very exciting players. Clearly, it would be better to have more, but you are forcing guys up the board just because they are playmakers, I assume #3 for you is Warren. He's a good player and I'd have no issue taking him, but not at #9 where there will be another, better player available.

Widge…. We gonna keep going in circles on this…. I think Warren is worth that pick too. I said last year that Bowers was also worth a top 10 pick…. He was. Warren is a different type of TE, but has a higher ceiling than Bowers because of his athleticism, size, and versatility. Bowers was more polished.

Reach and Value are terms for the draftniks that have to eat their words yearly.

Our current playmakers are old, getting old, injured, or injury prone. Doing nothing to immediately address that this year after spending a decade investigating in OL and DL primarily in round 1…. Is asking to be out scored, or lose one score games.

Also…. Again…. I like points…. And Football is entertainment.

I said Bowers was worth a top 10 pick too and I also said that he was going to be drafted before we got to pick. So, trust me bro, I guess?

I get that football is entertainment, but you don't have to draft a playmaker in the first round this year to be entertaining if the value isn't there. But, if we are going by entertainment, I don't find running the ball, Big X receivers, or possession TEs that can block entertaining. I want YAC WRs with speed and quickness for maximum entertainment. I also find QB that's can run entertaining so we should take Milroe at #9.

Agree…

Disagree….

Put value in one hand and…. Something something
