With the 9th Pick in the 2025 draft, who should the Saints select? (merged) (8 Viewers)

It's pretty cut and dry for me if Tet is there @ 9 grab him. If he's gone and either Graham or Carter are there, take either one. If all are gone trade down about 7-8 spots and pick up a 2nd and a 3rd or whatever the best you can get and take Warren around 15 or so. Then take the DT Grant or Tyleik Williams in the 2nd. Then take Tre Harris with the 2nd we got in the trade

My target players are @ WR Tet, Harris , Higgins and Savion Williams @DT Graham , Grant, Williams. @ TE Warren, Loveland , Taylor @ Edge , Carter Pearce , Scourton and Umanmielen.

If we come away with a big X WR a run stopping DT and a good TE prospect the rest will be gravy

Mason Graham is a monster and will be long gone by the time we draft. You see I saw this happening, alot of people on here rooting for us to win more games when the season was lost, now only if we lost 1 less game, and then maybe.
Remember the Saints don’t win or lose games because the fans want them to!

You act like the people on this board is responsible for us getting the #9 pick instead of your highly coveted #5!

Depends. If we can absolutely rob someone blind and trade back, I'd rob them blind.

We have SO MANY holes.
This. We need help at almost every position.
Really think about it, which position do you feel good about? (You being most all of us)

Fuaga
Bresee (if he can get better at run blocking)
McCoy (if he can stay healthy next season)
Maybe feel ok with Kool Aid.

So for me, that’s one OT, one DT, a Center and one Corner.

So we could use an upgrade at 18 starting positions.

Tell me which young ascending players/positions I’m missing.

More and more i’m starting to think that we should draft an OT, especially Campbell if he is available. Let Penning be a much improved backup.

Defensive line is deep in this draft and we can get an edge or interior in the second round. Having two young and talented OT could transform the offense immensely.

Y'all keep trying to concoct wild scenarios when the obvious fit/answer is right there. The biggest challenge will be to not telegraph it all the way up to the podium.

The best DT since Carter and the best DE and arguably best player won't make it to us at #9. And if you want to play the Need game we need a NT, not another 3 tech when we just drafted one and we have several DE's that kick inside on passing downs.

We already have two young and improving offensive tackles on the team. Both happen to be excellent at run blocking. There's not a talent on the interior line worth the #9 and that hole will get fixed in FA.

Our hopefully future head coach just rode his elite RB to a Super Bowl appearance. The best RB since Barkley happens to be available in this draft and just so happens went to our future head coaches alma mater. It's a storyline so good the NFL will try to make it happen. It keeps our defense off the field and keeps our QB out of trouble by staying ahead of the chains.

Speaking of QB's Moore could probably make Carr work but y'all know Justin Fields paired with Jeanty and Kamara would be way more fun to watch. And much more price friendly too.

Great post.

Not a big Justin Fields fan but I love the work that’s been done with Hurts and it is worth seeing if we could duplicate it somehow.

That Fields, Kamara, Jeanty package, sprinkled with a little bit of Taysom Hill could be very tough to stop, and like you said, that could really help the defense.

Philly runs a 3-4, what makes u think we will?

Coaches normally pick up things they like from their different stops. He's benefitted from a 3-4 defense combined with his offense getting the Eagles to the SB. It's not a given, but a possibility. If he's the guy, I'm looking forward to hearing his plan/vision of the team and what the team's identity is.

Neither am I but I'm a fan if he costs $6-7 million and Carr is restructured then sent packing after June 1st. Think you need a vet to pair with Rattler and he makes sense. Better than spending a top 3 round pick on a guy like Milroe.

Penning will not be a backup!

If we draft Campbell he will be moved inside to G.
Which is where most draft analyst have him playing...

i don't understand at all why people think campbell would make a better G. i don't see that physicality from him.
Draft analyst have his arm length as a potential problem for him playing T in the NFL...

Almost any T can move inside to play G because they normally have quick feet compared to players who only play at the G position...

Draft "analysts" said the same thing about Fuaga but he is playing LT now. If you draft Campbell IMO you move Penning inside where his struggles as a pass protector won't be as exposed. With his run blocking ability he could be a monster at Guard. Plus, you have to decide on Penning's option this year and/or give him a big long term contract. I'd hate to bet on Penning continuing to develop by giving him a big contract given how much he has struggled at this point in his career.
