I played with a goal keeper who had Mexican national team experience (way way back - too many moons ago to count). After stoning a PK in a big game he told me there really is a lot of psychology and even some culture that goes into defending PKs. I still believe this is true.Totally agree on the run up.
For so many years the thought was a power run up and smash, you have less control due to focus/leg fatigue.
I was always opposite...either I'm making or blocked but keeper gonna pay for it.
Dont rely solely on confirmation bias Neymar and Lewandowski buried their PKs with slow run-ups, hops, and skips.
