WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. signs with the Saints to a 2-year/5.75M deal (2.85M guaranteed) (3 Viewers)

Trequan Jr.

Saints have too many mouths to feed in front of Wilson:
Olave Shaheed Perry AK Johnson Miller.

Typical bargin bin signing that people are hoping can relive some magic he had nearly 4 seasons ago when he played for the cowboys. This is the kind of signing you expect nothing from but are surprised if he contributes remotely well.

Still hoping for AT perry to take the next step of his progression more than anything else in that WR group.

Every offensive free agent signing this year should contain an element of helping our existing players learn Kubiak's system. So far we have a pathetic backup quarterback for cheap who can help more off the field than on for cheap. Frankly I am fine with not overpaying for a good backup qb with Hill still on the Roster. This team is mediocre to begin with and if Carr were to go down (which you can criticize Carr for his play but the man plays hurt and is tough) fine tank and rebuild.

This is a team in a rebuild. The future at WR is already on the roster. The team is old but the WR is super young and currently cheap with Olave, Shaheed, and Perry. Wilson can help train them. If you add Renfrow in the slot. There are your five wide outs. I think we also have Kirkwood.

Talk of drafting a WR high is just dumb. We need young talent on defense and offensive line.

Well…w/the additions of Wilson, & now Stanley Morgan Jr, i doubt we bring in Renfrow. Sucks, cause i was hoping we would make that move.

We started very thin at WR, there is still room for him is the coaches think he's a fit. Of course he may want (and may get) more money than the Saints are willing to pay him.

I tend to agree, but at the same point since they are in a soft rebuild mode, if a high value WR falls to you in the first or second, you take them. Especially if that WR is a bigger guy who can make contested catches and get YAC. We don't really have that among our young WRs. Perry is tall but really skinny.

And that's fine if the focus is a soft rebuild to fill in with cheaper players who may have some upside. That may be the focus this year (which we are not used to).

It certainly seems that soft rebuild is what they are doing. I think Gay in particular fits that mold and Wilson to some extent too. But the Peterman and Young moves are a bit perplexing if that is the plan. Peterson is certainly cheap but has no upside and while Young has plenty upside, I can't see him being cheap.

Someone in the front office would have to be enamored with Young to invest significant guaranteed money. I get the talent and age, but the inconsistency would be worrying.

I think he beats out Peterman for QB3.

Not sure if you’re kidding or not, but this very well could happen, a la what we did with Lance Moore back in the day.

Between Haener, Taysom, and this guy as the EMERGENCY emergency guy, I think Peterman is likely a long shot to make the team.

Joke about Peterman (somewhat), but I could see Wilson replacing Kamara as the extreme emergency QB.
