Why rookie tight end Cam Serigne booked a one-way ticket to New Orleans for Saints tryout

Cam Serigne has never lived in New Orleans, but he still considers the city his home.

At New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp this weekend, Serigne will try to make New Orleans a permanent home.

An undrafted rookie tight end from Wake Forest, Serigne will be among the players trying out for the Saints during the three-day rookie camp, which runs Friday (May 11) through Sunday (May 13).

But, one unique aspect of Serigne's upcoming experience is that he booked a one-way ticket because he's planning on visiting relatives after the three days of practice.

"My roots are there," he said. "For me, this really feels like I have a chance to come home, and it's just neat for me."

Don’t look now, but New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara just cast his vote for who should be the team’s next head coach. He says interim head coach Darren Rizzi has earned an opportunity to lead the team.

“Aite my vote for head coach rhyme wit Fizzi…” Kamara wrote on social media.

And the Saints are at least giving Rizzi a real shot at the job. He interviewed alongside other candidates and is expected to get a second interview just like Anthony Weaver, Mike Kafka, and maybe Aaron Glenn.

Aaron Glenn is meeting with the New York Jets on Tuesday to interview for their open head coaching job, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Jets’ goal is to not let him leave the building. The New Orleans Saints were ready to start their round of in-person interviews, but weather has pushed their plans back to later this week, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
